Actually, we don't have to go to ancient history to confirm biblical accounts of giants.

According to the bible, the "giant" Goliath was 6 cubits and a span. There are two ways to measure cubits.

If you use the standard, it would make Goliath a little under 10 feet tall.

If you use what they call the "lower" cubit, he would be a little under 7 feet tall.

Most scholars assume that Goliath's description is of a man 9 feel 6 1/2 inches tall or 291 cm's tall. They base this on the view that his size terrorized people, therefore the larger size of a standard cubit seems the more reasonable assumption.

Today the tallest living man is 8 feet 4 inches tall.

Around 1940 there is a record of a man who was 8 feet 11 inches tall.

(The standard cubit was measuring from your elbow to the end of your middle finger. The lower cubit is measuring form the elbow to the base of your hand.)

In 2005 archaelogogists found pottery shards at Tell es-Safi, which is called Gath in the bible, that appear to contain the name "Goliath" on them. Gath is the birthplace of Goliath. The shard dates back to 950 BC, which is within 70 years of when the bible states that David killed Goliath. The scholars admit that this may not be proof that this is "The Goliath" of biblical fame, but it confirms certain simple parts of the biblical accounting. That in the city of Gath the name Goliath was used.

Medical science says that a problem with the pituitary gland could cause acromegaly, which would make the biblical account believable. It would account for the large size of Goliath, and it would also indicate a high possibility of causing a type of double vision peripherally which would have made it much easier for David to get close enough to deliver a fatal sling slot attack.

There also was a "royal cubit" - but it's probably not the one used for measuring Goliath!

There's some discussion of the height of people back then in this thread: How big was...?".

i think there were giants in the bible if i remember correctly

the occurence of the word "giant" in the Old Testament (Genesis, Numbers) is a poor translation of the Hebrew word "nephilim" which means "fallen ones"

the issue of just how tall Goliath was has already been addressed.

Probably the best source for info on Giants... I have Steve Quayles "Genesis 6 Giants" (pretty much an encyclopedia and hard to get though) and it has most if not all accounts of Giants recorded throughout history.... including a photographed mid section (obviously from when cameras were around) of 'Giants' in living memory.

I don't necessarily agree with his theories, don't quote me but I think he has some idea of a Giant race before man :p

As I'm a noob I can't post an external URL but Google for: Stevequayle

also during the Exodus, I think, people of Moses cross the land of the tribe of giants.
I heard of relation of the nefilims with mesopotamian IGIGI or THE WATCHERS
Anyone?

Yes, the Nephilim are the same as the Watchers mentioned in more detail in Enoch. They are also connected with the Summerian "gods." I don't have all the names now, nor would I wish to list some of them as there were some bad guys. However, rather than categorizing all "Nephilim" as evil, we must consider that some though they initially rebelled with Lucifer, also left Lucifer to come to earth and live on earth a more "normal" life. Of course some corrupted their spouses & offspring as described by Enoch, but others sought only peace, and they also sought repentance.

Proof?

I think I need to post this link again: http://www.thedivinecouncil.com/nephilim.pdf

Shalom.

He says offspring of the watchers (sons of God). Ok. He also said they are not inherently evil. I agree with that. Absolutely.
As far as Zechariah Sitchin.... as much as I beleive in aliens I do not buy his theories. "People of the rocket ships" indeed! Huh? Silliness is right. If those angelic/extraterrestrial beings used any form of ship (which they may have) they were certainly not rocket powered! Try crystal/solar or something along those lines. It would be like calling the Enterprize or Voyager a rocket ship. Surrrrre. And that's if they even used ships. Probably did, but they were not rockets.

Now the Annunaki (the Shining Ones) who came down in ancient Sumer and their offspring are the same thing we are talking about here. No, I don't beleive they genetically manipulated Homo Erectus and produced Homo sapiens sapiens... (I think Sitchin or someone suggests that theory too - more nonsense.)
I think they took mates with humans already created here and bore offspring, their offspring (in the case of those of Anu) migrated to the Scythian regions, then across Europe and eventually came to Ireland around 1897 BC and were known as the Tuatha de Dannan but whose original name was Tuadhe d'Anu (People of Anu). Known later as the "Faerie race" or the Elves... they also were in Scotland and influenced the formation of the clan system which persists to this present day.
