I've heard of this happening in other places but have now had an opportunity to witness it first hand. One of our parishioners has brought 3 of her icons in to the monastery for veneration. They had been completely blackened for many years, but just recently, without any cleaning or other treatment, they've begun to return to their original vibrancy.
