I have not only visited many churches in my area, I have also gone to many functions in other churches. I also volunteer with the Cub Scouts in one church and volunteer with Girls in Action with another church. I know a fair amount of Christians in the area who are members of other churches and I have asked them about their church. All of them, the denominational churches and the nondenominational churches, are pretty much the same here. It seems I get fed more at home with my books then I do at church. Oh well.

The last church I was in, the music pastor encouraged us to run around. He would get going with the song, "I am free to run", and nobody would run at first...(kinda funny). Then he would say, "I know someone in the audience will run for Jesus." So some lady took the bait and all I could say was...wow. It was the funniest thing I had ever seen live in person! The lady kept running the entire duration of the song. Let's just say he liked people to get up and run, and after that Sunday I was running for a new church, and so were a few other people.

Too bad you missed the point.

All I can say is that each of us worships God differently. I would not feel comfortable in a church where people were running around and screaming and worked themselves up. Some people do. As long as people are getting a good understanding of the Word and are not being taught deceptive things -- then more power to them!

I however, prefer a more cerebral instruction during church. And my church provides that. I prefer a pastor who teaches the Truth inside of the Bible so that my head can wrap around it -- and then my heart starts to swell and my eyes tear up. But I still do not make a big show of it :)

But that's me -- and God has brought me to a church that helps me grow in my spiritual journey. Will I someday feel like getting up and making a public display? I cannot rule it out! Only God knows :)

As my dear sister Desperaux just said, it's too bad you missed the point. It isnt about running around and purposely upsetting you. It was a demonstrative release of joy about the Holy Spirits being present in that church body that day and is very biblical.

Running around and screaming during the service may or may not be proper I dont know I was not there that day. instead of finding fault with fellow Christians could you find another church? Im sure you would be happier.

As I have been trying to say all along, there is a difference between a public display that should biblically be allowed in church and one that should be disallowed.

I know what you have been saying. I am with you.

The feller who missed the point was someone else.

Church is not a smorgasbord.

I wonder sometimes about the time coming soon when we will stand before our Lord and He will ask, "When you were called to worship Me, why did you not worship with exuberance, and shouts of joy and dancing, as my people have done?"

"Well, Jesus, it wasn't MY kind of THING."
or
"Well, Jesus, You know I'm shy."
or
"Well, it didn't appeal to ME."
or
"I didn't want to."
or
"I wasn't LED to."
or
"I felt like it was foolishness."

I wonder how Jesus will respond?

"I saw you not being shy at the Lakers game. You were foolish then."

Scripturally we are commanded to dance, spin, shout and clap our hands and sing before the Lord of Hosts. It's our job.

The Jesus i know isn't going to be like that at all.

No I have to say...I dont' think Jesus will be asking me that...I think he will be too busy rejoicing along with me :)

Believe me, rejoicing will happen, but not before the weeping. The Judgment Seat of Christ is a fearsome thing.

I recommend getting a copy of John Bevere's "Affabel".

There wont' be any weeping where I'm going :)

Yes there will be much weeping and sorrow at the Judgment Seat of Christ. All of us will have many shortcomings openly revealed.

Why else does God say He will wipe away every tear from our eyes, and collect them in a bottle?

What He's actually going to be saying is whether or not we fed the hungry, gave someone some water, etc...you know...when He seperates...

In Jesus' own words, on that day when He seperates the sheep and goats, what does He say to the sheep? "Enter into the JOYS of The Lord" Joy is the oposite of sorrow.

"There is therefore now NO CONDEMNATION..."- Bible

^^In other words he is going to ask what we have done with our lives. Is it possible that he could also ask what we have done with what he has given us (I'm using the parable of the talents as an analogy).

I also remember someone suggesting that we will be held accountable for unrepented sin. I assume this means sin that we are consciously aware of (many people sin and are not aware that they are sinning). Their suggestion was that we would be held accountable for sin that God had been convicting us of but we hadn't dealt with.

Romans 14:9-12 NIV

9For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living. 10You, then, why do you judge your brother? Or why do you look down on your brother? For we will all stand before God's judgment seat. 11It is written:
" 'As surely as I live,' says the Lord,
'every knee will bow before me;
every tongue will confess to God.' "[a] 12So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.

Not entirely!

We are not talking about condemnation. We are talking about JUDGMENT---Jesus' righteous throne Judgment of all believers.

We are judged by Christ in that our WORKS are tried by fire. This is where we will feel the pain and remorse for our lack of fully giving to God of ourselves. Our many disobediences will be revealed. We will be broken before our Lord! So sorry that we held back and didn't do more! So shocked that what we perveived as a choice for one thing meant a blatant "NO, GOD!" to Him!

Then, we will receive our due rewards according to the burning. Some will receive more, others less, vut in either case, our tears will be wiped away and we will be received into the Kingdom with JOY.

It will certainly be humbling, and quite frankly the experience sounds terrifying to me, but at the same time, I rejoice in the Lord because I now find myself counted among the children of the Lord through Christ. It's scary, yet reassuring. We come before the Throne of our Lord as sons of the Most High, and we then enter into His Kingdom Eternal. Thank you oh Lord for saving my wretched soul!

Exactly. I am looking forward to seeing my Saviour, but I am not entirely eager to experience His chastisement at His Judgment Seat.

To realize that I have let Him down so much and even when I was unconscious of it is going to be a devastatingly hard thing to undergo. But my Joy will be in receiving whatever reward He deems fit, and being received into His Kingdom forever!

So, which scriptures are you basing (all of this) on?
