Hey. I'm not really new so much as I am new to this thread. But I never posted a "new member intros thread" so this'll do.
Willtor is a graduate student of computer science at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in Rochester, NY. He grew up just outside of Boston, MA, spent his freshman year of high school in Singapore, went to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) for his BS in CS, and learned to speak about himself in the third person somewhere along the way.
I'm roughly 24.92 years old. I would mention that I'm single, but considering the forum in which I'm posting this, that would be kind of redundant. I grew up in the American Baptist Church, but now I'm something of an ecumenical.
Occasionally I go off on rants; eg - I don't really like most contemporary Christian music. I like some, but I like many more older hymns. Most of the contemporary music doesn't really seem to say anything. It's mostly, "Isn't it great to be a Christian?" Also, it's the same 3 lines repeated over and over again. My mind wanders easily, and this doesn't help. I have a theory, though. I think the larger body of quality hymns is purely due to the amount of time over which it has been amassed. My guess is that the so-called signal to noise ratio of quality worship music to cookie-cutter dribble has not changed significantly. But the music that survives past its generation is almost universally that which has quality. Therefore, it is something of an unfair comparison to measure the bulk of older hymns against contemporary worship.

I go to a Chinese Church, and I'm trying to learn to speak Mandarin, but it's quite a challenge. But the Church's college fellowship is a fun group to hang out with and we do cool things. We had hot pot with the Superbowl, for example. Brilliant. Simply brilliant. I think the only thing that would have made it a better party would have been massages while we ate and watched.
My favorite books are "The Pilgrim's Regress," (C.S. Lewis) "Ethics," (Dietrich Bonhoeffer) and "Orthodoxy" (G.K. Chesterton).
