I’m going to try working out with the bands, dumbbells and Total Gym, no Mace workouts and nothing that stresses my lower back.
I hate not being able to do the Mace workouts, I am up to 33 minutes nonstop.
I’m going to increase the volume on the other workouts to try to make up some of the difference

Wednesday at work people were asking what was wrong and what I did to my leg. Thursday I couldn’t walk at all. Friday I had an MRI, those results will go to a Neurosurgeon.
I went to Urgent Care and they gave me a shot of Toradol and a prescription for it and a steroid. I also have COVID but that’s not all bad news, that gives me time to get better before I go back to work.
This morning I am walking without the cane and I may do a workout with the bands.
What I plan to do
(SS/W means superset with, a superset is when you do exercises back to back with no rest between)
Chest Expander ss/w InnStar Chest Press ss/w Krusher ss/w BodyBlade x 2-3 Giant Sets
Band Curls x 3-5 sets

It depends on how I feel if I do this workout. I have to be careful not to stress my lower back if it do.

Sorry to hear that! About 7-yrs ago (weight training was non-existent), Doc said I need a MRI too because it was like I had an increasing loss of strength in my lower legs (both) and said my ankles were "deformed"? A number of times, I could have easily just fallen over. MRI did not reveal any tell-tale why the ankles were puffy. But the podiatrist's inserts corrected all. WooHoo!

"Supersets" ol' Leo, my break-in trainer (early 80s) used to say with limited conviction was that rapid-fire approach. I suppose, he really didn't allow patience to guide Him through the eventual progress, no? That wasn't something I gravitated to, I had my hands full just staying in the game.

Sorry I missed the above picture. Oh heck yeah!! Don't tell me your on the plus side of that now???

I’m addicted to junk food.

I had McDonald’s late the other night.

This needs to stop.
Me too, some. The B-builders wield well the importance of diet to get to where you want to be. This is such a recurring message from them, there must be substantial cred to it.

My left foot was turned around backwards when I was born. They put it in a cast to straighten it, so it is a size smaller than the right and doesn’t have the flexibility and mobility that the right foot has. The ankle bothers me sometimes.
I saw a podiatrist last month. But she didn’t recommend anything for it.

I’m reading a book called Bright Line Eating and I’m going to try the diet. The author has been on mushrooms, LSD, crack, and crystal meth but says that food was the hardest addiction to overcome. She says we are addicted to sugar, artificial sweetener and flour.

Pretty sure most interested in health will concur on cold-turkey of such till completely avoided. I don't wish to throw water on that but, might extract more interest if that outlook wasn't so iron-clad.

True, cold-turkey would more likely produce results faster and better. What of the fence straddler's?

I haven’t read all of it yet but she said any approach based on will power will eventually fail. Will power is like gas in a tank and every decision you make is draining it, so I’m curious what her approach will be.

Read: Willpower: Rediscovering the Greatest Human Strength by Roy Baumeister and John Tierney.

I don't normally do "self help" books, but honestly this is an amazing book that really does give a necessary practical perspective when dealing with self control.

I've read this book twice... I seriously seriously recommend. It's likely something you can pick up inexpensively, it's not a new publication.

I just bought it on Kindle. I am reading The Obstacle Is The Way and Bright Line Eating and will finish those then start on this book. Thanks

I've reduced grains in my diet to see if I can encourage higher metabolism/better energy. I still want sweets often... Trying to use small portions of darker chocolate for those cravings. I'm also using a protein powder that includes greens, so it makes a good afternoon drink and also works well in my morning oatmeal.

My specific needs that led me here: I'm hypoglycemic, so I reduce sugar intake but don't need to monitor my blood levels or take medicine as diabetics do. Two of my kids have had issues with lactose intolerance, so I also watch my dairy intake some. And the older I get, the slower my metabolism seemed to become...

I also learned to exercise without my youngest kid, who has a physical disability that means problems with muscle growth. If I only ever walk or hike with him, I won't go fast enough or far enough... We've learned recently that he can be motivated to exercise indoors if he's "earning" some time for digital art. :)
