....and now the US is rolling out another bomber...what will be the end price per unit of the B-21? As usual, the Air Force is keeping the money spent on this program under wraps.

Insane and unacceptable. I have to question the value of these aircraft. Is there a scenario when the US would actually use a B2's capabilities without triggering WW3?
Think they are mostly reserved for WW 3.

Also Ford class super carriers. Over 13 billion to build. Around a billion a year to operate. 90 aircraft say 70 million each.

And US has eleven of them in service - including older models. How close to China you want to sail one of those ?

Then again US spent a trillion dollars in Afganistan and basically got nothing out of it if we want to get some scale on this.

But they look great out of my office window!

Imagine how much better life would be for 90% of American citizens if they took JUST, say 80Billion out of the defence budget and spent it on Americans OR it's crumbling infrastructure.

Looking at it from Europe it often looks like Americans are suckers for punishment. Short or no holidays, astronomically expensive healthcare, insane incarceration rate, anti science sentiments and the astounding number of wackos with apparently total inability to critically read or think.

Hard to see how being the last remaining superpower (for now) compensates that for most people in their everyday life or how many people actually think they have it so well while working three jobs to get their bills paid.

Russia and China are the 2nd and 3rd most powerful nations in the world
I think it’s pretty clear from current event that the Russian military machine is 80 years out of date in materials and doctrine.

Ha! I'm just north of the border of these weirdos.

Like.....why are you okay with 0 paid maternity days? 0 paid holidays?

It's not "good" or "tough". It's the upper classes exploiting workers and other workers cheering them on.

America is a HUGE "crabs in a bucket" but the younger generations are getting tired of it since most of them are living in or near poverty.

That was another prewar strategic mistake. A swiss company was making all the ammo and because of strict neutrality laws, could deliver no ammo in a war situation like the present one. But now I understand Rheinmetall is going to build the ammo plant inside Germany and the Bundestag has approved all of this. Things are starting to happen but there are so many of these strategic errors I have to question the competency of German governance on military and energy policy for much of the last 8 years especially. The thing is that the war in Ukraine could well be over by the time the German military is back up to scratch. This makes the anti-Americanism of many parts of the current government over the last decade all the more ludicrous as they were biting the hand that was going to save them in the current situation.
do you know das Panzerlied?

Warum? It is stirring stuff and if there was not all that history to it I think I would like the song. To be honest, Germany needs to recover some pride in its military, not as a conqueror of, but rather a defender of, the weak.
