I think we all know people that think they have the Bible figured out, more than anyone else, and that they are "done" studying. They've lost, as you said, their child-like faith, and have tried to make pleasing God harder than it really is. Believing in God is even easier. Believing in His Word easier yet.

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

The problem with such people, as I see it, is they're relying on themselves for wisdom when the fear of the Lord is just the beginning of our wisdom. When you rely on your own knowledge to get you through this world, you will be disappointed. Most importantly, you will be humbled at some point.

Who decides what the word of God is? BTW, which of the two of us would you say falls into this group you have described?

My statement was not directed at anyone in particular. I was talking about people in general that think they are smart enough and know enough about the Bible, or people that overanalyze everything and take the joy out of loving God. "They" have lost their child-like faith.

I did not say you had directed your comments to anyone in particular. I simply asked you whether you thought either of us fit into that group. You did claim that we can know the people who are in that group. I think your words were, "We all know. . ."

That's just it, I have no earthly idea how you view your intelligence of the Bible or if you study it constantly like I do. I have never drawn a line between you and I, and in fact, I was speaking with Deu58 when I made the original statement. I find it odd that Deu58 didn't think I was referring to him, but strangely you thought I might be referring to you.

Speaking of which. I just noticed that the OP attempted to administer the last rites to this forum on Sept. 11 at 10:50 p.m. It is now Sept 13. Almost 2 entire days and there are still signs of life. There is certainly a spiritual lesson we can draw from this.

Deu, I think I will have to get accustomed to your inability to resist misrepresenting what someone has said. On second thougts, I won't. I will bring it to the attention of the Moderators. You have a responsibility to be honest and truthful on this forum as per the rules. I never claimed we have lost the truth. It does not matter how many times you say it.

Back to the topic. It is dangerous to apply biblical principles where they do not belong. When was the last time you had the same attitude towards an electrical socket as a child has? Childllike faith does not mean childish faith. If my education is of no value to my experience it would have been a waste of time. Don't be so limiting as to suggest that unless we accept a six-day creation as told in Genesis (there was no creation on the seventh-day) then it must be allegorical. This happens to be one of your problems. You seem to have a dualistic view of life. This limits you ability to engage constructively in discussions that are not limited in this fashion.

Amen 2Tim! My God is powerful enough!! God can use anyone at anytime to get his information to people. God knows what he is doing. She should trust that!

I guess the question that we must ask is this. Is your God powerful enough to get you the information you need no matter who carries the message?
