Well one thing is obvious from this thread!

The only supportive Staff voice is from one of our Non Christian Mods!
Why would the opinion of staff be more important than the opinion of other members? The forums are for all members, not just staff.

Just remember this lovely rule from the Wiki.

Any attempt to intimidate or silence another person/point of view is a rule violation.

Well if that's the case, I know at least one mod who needs to be stripped of his position and who owes me placeback on a deleted post. Especially considering he took it upon himself to delete it purely because in his view it was incompatible with Christianity and promoting "another religion" (in reality it was nothing but a personal statement of my experiences SO totally NOT meant as a theological premise AT ALL...)

A few miscellaneous points:

1) Forum-specific rules are still in. So if you want a safe haven for Christians, you can still have one here.

2) There is a distinction between 'not getting things my own way' and Satan.

3) No, we atheists are not salivating over these changes. I suspect most of us don't actually care one way or the other. Many of us do find the absurd over-reactions on display faintly amusing, but that's about it.

4) Whining about the name of an internet message board is not 'standing up for Christ.' You want to stand up for Christ, go feed a homeless guy, or give blood, or volunteer at a shelter. Selfish, petty bickering about matters of truly infinitesimal importance stands up for no one but yourself. And it sure as hell doesn't make non-believers think you guys are onto something important.

5) This place is whatever you make it. We've already seen over the past few weeks exactly how far endless wailing and gnashing of teeth gets you. Perhaps this time, you could opt for something a little more constructive. You never know, it might even work.

I want to commend Erwin for this change. Why? Because it is a needed step in accurately packaging what this site has become and is becoming. With this packaging new Christians and naive Christians will not think they are on a safe site spiritually. That is good given the changes of 7-7-7.

I do not commend the 7-7-7 changes. I believe that was when this site abandoned a biblical core (The Nicene Creed and a trinitarian concept of God as well as some foundational biblical standards of conduct) in favor of a WIKI-driven post modern mindset and authority structure.

Given THAT change (7-7-7) the change today only makes sense. I lays to rest Christian Forums (which had been deceased and was only awaiting a decent burial) and accurately describes what Erwin has decided this site is and will be.

Thus today is a step into accurate presentation. The new label is not the issue, the reforms of 7-7-7 are the issue.

I will likely do some apologetics here if the WIKI rules will allow any biblical truth to be presented. I will not view this as a fellowship site, even in the congregational bunkers.

I would ask Erwin to consider removing pre-teens from the site (Actually I suggest 16 or 18 as a minimum age). This place will get darker and I would not want to encourage young people to socially network here.

WIKI-on, Garth.

true !

this is why I am not surprised by todays move , Erwin set sail weeks ago on this course.

One might nope not.
That says volumes about why this site is where it is today.

I can deal with this forum being more secular, but it really seems Erwin really is being unethical and lying when he says things like he said in the OP here about letting us decide about changing this forum's name or not. http://foru.ms/t5787680-at-crossroads-cfs-vision.html&page=21 Option 2 here was the winner, and that was the one wanting to keep the name. I did not see any other poll asking about this, and he stated in the OP about letting us decide. That seems like lying and unethical and unchristian. That's fine if he wants to run things his way, but claiming to be christian he needs to not be lying to us.

What does that tell us I wonder?

To quote one of the previous contributors who I think summed up this latest travesty so succinctly:

This Sucks!

You can, of course, back that up?

Please show where I've said I support any of the most recent changes.

I am speaking from a Biblical viewpoint. What God declares is the ONLY truth.
Well, not all Christians are Biblical fundamentalists, so what you believe to be true can be different than what some other Christians believe to be true.

Why would the opinion of staff be more important than the opinion of other members? The forums are for all members, not just staff.

And for that matter most of the supportive votes I have seen have been from Christians (not non) who disapproved of the reforms in the first place.

This non Christian mod is not happy with the name change, or the new vision for the site. I didn't sign up for another myspace or facebook thank you.

This post sums up the reason for most of the whining. In fact most you ever see on CF is caused by this.

Yeah, in a way I feel the same! I would NOT want pre-teens to be allowed on fundamentalist and extreme conservative Christains sites, for they will fill their minds with intolerance!

The name change doesn't bother me, because it is just a symptom of the cancer spreading around. It only makes the disease more obvious to more people.

Somebody just pull the pl.ug already!
What cancer? I think that CF got much better after the recent changes. I don't see any disease.
