Well, second thought...
...maybe the Faith Forums area should be moved back to the top...

Just because I feel the site should be "open" to all and not run with tight rules of Orthodoxy does NOT mean that the Christian influence needs to be "hidden". I feel it is entirely possible to be open and honest about the faith of this site without pushing that faith on everyone else.

There was at least some general agreement as to "christianity", this new format basically wipes that right out to being anything anyone defines it is.

I am lightened up, but CF/Erwin IMO took the LOW ROAD as far as protection OF CHRISTIANS and their faith. He could have just changed the Christian member definition - PROBLEM SOLVED.
We're now wide open to all skeptic attack from everyone, everywhere! (and if you're one who redefines what Christianity is, then I can bet you would be happy with this new change; many WILL like it up front.

I am giving it time, but I do see some alarming negative changes and I base that on coming out of an open Christian-based chat forum where the non Christians pushed the Christians right out and they left due to continually contending against their faith & beliefs.

Low road? What does that mean to Erin as a person, administrator, owner? What are you and others are viewing him now? An enemy?

My response:

If it were just the name I could agree with it seeming to be silly and over-dramatized. But it's not just the name. Now there are SEVERAL large secular forums posted at the top and middle and all the "religious" forums thrown to the very bottom of what everyone was supporting and led to believe as a Christian forum. The whole structure and now future plan for this forum has changed...the name was just a better representation of that change - so when people say they are disappointed in the name...it's largely what that name represents - IMHO.

I am very sad at this change and for the life of me can not imagine anyone paying for a name like Foru.ms--what on earth does it mean anyway?

Could we have been any less creative when taking Jesus out of the equation?
No matter--there are other real Chrisitan sites out there--I am terribly sad about this and can not imagine or maybe I have not been around long enough to begin to understand why anyone would tear down a site they set up for Christ.

Boggles the mind and yes--monies paid for a Christian site need to be returned as well as the as the site supporter that still asks for money in Christs name.

Well, it's Erwin's site, I'm glad I didn't just sign up to be a site supporter the other day like I was going to becuz I'd be FUMING right now.

I'll try it out, but I have little hope for the future here.

It's the sign of the times. Christ has been removed from schools, the courthouse, federal government, and expressions of Christmas in the malls, etc. Now here. Not a surprise. I was just wondering if Erwin has forgotten his original vision for CF, got discouraged, or is no longer a Christian, too. It doesn't matter. I'll pray for him and this site. I hope someone with the technical know-how will put up an actual Christian Forums someday, and continue the vision.

I am ambivalent about the name change BUT CF like any other forum is a function of its membership not the bloody name at the top.

I'm sure some people will leave as well as some Mods (are Mods people?? - [/joke]) but when all is sais and done that means they considered the name more important than the people.

And I agree with you.. Nothing has changed in that the site is run on the same Christian principles as before..

I too would prefer if the name had remained Christian Forums.. but Christ is in my heart whether it is in the name of this forum.. and since He is, I will continue to show Jesus in me.. to all here..

And as to the "old slogan" Uniting Christians.. well we were all in the same space.. but as to being unitied.. well.. Hmmm.. that wasn't happening..

Dear Erwin

Because I was chatting with a friend while waiting for CF to come back up, I was prepared for a name change as my friend noticed the new domain name, unlike me, and even if I had, I would not have understood. Like others, I expect the site will always be CF to me personally. I just wish to say that I don't like the new slogan so much. I think this site has been more than just a social networking site. I would prefer if the actual vision were the slogan so it's there for all new folk to see immediately they arrive here, that we are a community guided by Christian principles. I supported 100% your vision of 07 07 07 and still do, Erwin, but I don't feel the slogan aligns that well with it.

Have a restful sleep, Erwin, and thank you for all the work you put in here. As others have said, the reality is, it's our actions here as members, not the name at the top, which will determine whether Christ reigns in this place or not. God bless you.

3 years ago I became a member of Christian forums. And now it is just like thousands others. I came here to share and seek advice from Christians, and THAT was the difference! If I wanted to be a member of whatever other forums I would do so.

I think while we, as Christians, are upset that the name change came about, what we are MOST upset about is Christ's name has been removed. I can walk into a local bar and minister to a broken woman in the name of Christ, but somewhere on my person there is something will set me apart as a Christian. Where is the "something" that idenitifies and sets this apart as a Christian site? By admission, it no longer is a Christian site. I had to chuckle to see Erwin's background on his own homepage, Christian Forums...
It is as if Christ is an afterthought, not the main focus. Something to be ashamed of..
This is not for me..
For I am not ashamed of my Lord and Savior...

Of course, we cannot close our minds to everything that is happening around us becausse in this world, I have learned that by doing of the will of God leaves me no time for disputing about His providence plans and why things are happening around us. The fact of the matter is the visible providence of God has no respector (discriminate) of persons as some are doing around here.
