Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Fetuses earlier than 28 weaks into pregnancy do not feel pain.
If that were the case then babies born at 20 weeks must just be faking...and science cannot measure whether a fetus feels pain or not..heck they used to think that a full term infant could not feel the pain of a circumsion..guess the baby was just putting on when he would squall...anything that lives can feel pain...A fetus at 15 weeks has an immature but fully formed brain...A fetus at twelve weeks is fully formed and about the size of a human palm.

I hope you realize that there has to be pain sensors connected to the brain for the fetus to actually feel pain. Since they're not even fully developed, there's no reason to believe they feel pain.

Is pain really the issue here? Would a "painless" abortion be any more ethical? If the Nazis had used lethal injection over ovens and gas chambers, would they have been less guilty? I can't help but wonder if in 100 years, our great grandchildren will look back on our times and weep in shame for what's going on now.

Up to a certain point of development, yes (that point being the formation of sophisticated neural networks)
I guess you are now a god and able to determine for the rest of us when that is exactly?

Yes, pain is the issue. You see, the Jews were already alive and had experience life. You're basically take life away from a person that wants to live. A fetus has no desires because it's in a very immature state before 28 weeks of pregnancy. I'm against abortion after the 28 weeks unless there's an emergency that is taking place.

These abortion arguments are kinda silly, it's a lot like saying that you should have sex at every possible oportunity, because then you're giving more people a chance to live. Its also a lot like saying that if a married couple doesn't have sex every time the women is fertile, they're denying a child the chance to live and are evil people for doing so.

So you are for abortion before the 28 week point? Why? So you can go out and live permiscuously with no fear of the resposibility of caring for that which you willingly created? This is why the Democrats cater to people 30 years old and under. Irresponsible voters make good pawns. No slam on those under 30 that actually have a sense of responsibility.

If this is all of your ability to reason I wouldn't let you boil a pot of water.

Why are you assuming things about me that are not even true? If I were to have sex, and I never had sex, I would use protection. You're assuming people are prochoice simply because they want to use it as a method of birth control. Many people see abortion as the last possible resource. Not everyone that has an abortion are irresponsible, perhaps their protection failed or they were raped.

Preventing pregnancy and terminating an already existing pregnancy cannot even be compared. That is where your logic is flawed.

just let people believe what they want to believe. there is no reason to go around flaming them and saying their sense of logic is messed up. vote the way you feel compelled to vote and allow the other side to do the same.

How come?
How come? How can you even ask that? That's like saying installing a security system in your home and shooting anyone who comes on your property are one and the same. One is a preventative measure, the other is killing a human being.

just let people believe what they want to believe.
I have no problem with people believing what they want to believe, but I find it highly offensive when someone compares something as small as birth control to killing an unborn baby.

Oh yeah! Thanks for educating me. I must be wrong about the fact that abortion is a money making industry and murder is murder, no matter what medical tag someone puts on a fetus.

My friend had a baby before 28 weeks..It was obvious that the baby felt more than just lethargy.
