Well, there's always going to be a degree of subjectivity about the definition of Christian, isn't there? I say I'm a Christian. You say you're a Christian. We both disagree quite extensively about what that means, certainly in terms of the values we subscribe to, but at the end of the day all we can do is accept that we're both sincerely following Christ to the best of our abilities. Personally, I think Erwin gets off to a great start by stating that:
Sure, there's room for clarification - and Erwin has summed up the Biblical process for becoming a Christian, as well as the Nicene Creed (with caveats that not all Nicene Christians subscribe to every aspect of the Creed) - but the danger is we get bogged down in rules and regulations, instead of just living our faith.
And sure, it's going to mean that foru.ms is a place where we meet with a lot of people with whom we disagree, both Christians and non-Christians, but hey - isn't that just like life? What matters is that this place is a safe place for all.
David.
