• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

At least you're honest.

I just look at the fruits of Christianity, and I see mostly bad. Bad ideas, bad reasoning, horrible attitudes and it's the institution of Christanity that is to blame.

I got no beef with someone believing in Christ, but no matter how much you deny it, there is more to the religion than that. There's dogma, there's politics, there's creeds, and doctrines, and bureaucracy and tradition and this and that and none of it has anything to do with Christ. That's what I got a beef with.
Every system is based on domatic principles, what's your point?

The fact is that it has, since now it's Buddhism, secualrism, crazy forums. Christians get attacked in their own apologetics forum now.
I believe that is the whole issue.

Before, we were able to discuss in different sections with those who are not Christians on different matters.

Now, we have to watch our backs in what should be safe areas. I have seen in a thread now attacks and advice for a Christian who is reaching out specifically to their brother and sister in Christ.

I never said anyone held a gun to my head. I like debate and arguement, that's why I came here.

But to be honest, it's a bit decietful to invite us here with the intention of converting us, just to to tell us to essentially "bugger off" whenever we tell you how arrogant and stupid ya'll are being.

We're not sheeple like ya'll are.

Somebody OD'ed on the nasty cereal this morning.

Observation: younger people don't have a problem with the name change, while older people do. I've noticed that older people have a problem with change and teenagers and young adults basically don't care as long as the actual format doesn't change. You're blowing it way out of proportion. You can start worrying when they start allowing cussing and create a non-Christians only section.

The problems and complaints started before the name change. The format has changed -- now there are fewer safe places for Christians to talk to Christians about things because everything is so open. If I go into a forum on Christian Advice, I expect advice from christians, not every Joe Blow who happens by.

*shaking my head*

Nothing but ignorance and a seemingly unwillingness to understand what christianity even is and what it's all about.

sad ain't it?

Just the opposite, I understand quite a bit about Christianity, and Christians. That's why I'm not one.

Which totally explains why you are in a Christian Philosophy and Ethics thread.

Exactly!!

No, because you seemed to indicate that by changing the name of this forum, the "Christian" had been taken out of the forums. It's not true. Nothing has really changed except for a few rules and the name.

No, I never said any such thing. In fact, I have said exactly the opposite.

What disgusts me about the forum - as it now is - is the mean-spirited and derogatory tone that has recently taken over several (perhaps most) of the sub-forums.

I have never gone over to an Atheist, or Buddhist, or Muslim discussion forum, and called them names, said they're stupid, and insulted them on their own forum.

It's too bad that most of the non-Christians who have recently "invaded" this forum are not capable of extending that same kind of civility and/or respect.

Well for crying out loud - how many times does the simple truth have to be repeated before some people are able to understand it?

If you & I want to smart-off at each other about college football teams, that's cool. And if a whole bunch of other people want to join in smarting off about it, that's cool too.

But if you and I are trying to have a civil and in-depth discussion about doctrines of the Baptist General Conference, the LAST thing we need is to have some smart-mouthed atheist in here yelling, "Christians are dorks!"

It's NOT about thinking we're too good for anybody else.
It's NOT about being afraid of differing world views.
It's NOT about being exclusive.

It's about getting really, really sick of having every decent discussion derailed by some smart alec that just can't keep his mouth shut & leave people alone.

PS: I still prefer the name Dolt McCoy! ;)

Looking down at the bumps on my chest. I sure hope I am a girl or God and I need to talk about something.

Drinking Iced Tea the wine of the South didn't you know.

And since I don't need to maintain hair on my chest, black coffee can go on the way side.

You're a Longhorns fan. You and God already need to have several conversations about THAT!

No, me being bored at the time explains that.

Which would be done in the Baptist forum where debate and arguing from non-baptists is not allowed, and where you can designate the [closed] tag in front of the title to completely keep us out.

You're all throwing a tempter tantrum over something that doesn't have to be that big of a deal, if you would just quit complaining about.

Now I may have been less than polite before, but quit the woe-is-me act, acting like I'm the big bad boogeyman when when the rudest comments in this topic have come from Christians, directed at another Christian who dared to disagree you know-it-all old people.

Let me be blunt with you. Your presence is a detriment here.

Why? Not because you are an atheist, or whatever you are. But, by your own admission, because you are bored and just trying to get attention by making disparaging remarks in inappropriate places. It's like trying to have a nice meal, with friends, and that one pesky fly just keeps buzzing around and around and around. It doesn't mean that you're afraid of the fly. It's that it's so darned annoying.

Now... do you want to engage in civil discussion, or continue to be a disruption and a detriment?

If by "civil discussion", you mean being insulted for my age, being called immature, and stupid, then you can keep it.

I haven't seen anyone here come down on Karrie or the others for what they said to Father'sDaughter, or their arrogant attitudes, but I get hounded to no end over a rabid sheep dog remark.

Don't you see this hypocracy just keeps proving my point, or you just not care?

Child, and yes I meant that, I was not ugly to her at all. With that being said, you really must stop being a jerk about that.

Life is exactly that a learning experience and those of us who are much older than your age have more experience and understanding.

At this point you are showing your age and becoming pesky

You just insulted me, and then said I have to stop being a jerk. You have no shame, do you?

Life is exactly that a learning experience and those of us who are much older than your age have more experience and understanding.

I don't wanna hear that crap. I listen to the radio every day about people 2, 3, 4 times my age doing the most stupid things with money, with their life, their friends, their family.

And even if that were true, there is nothing more rude, more disrespectful that for someone to write up a well though-out post, a rational arguement, just to have some twit say to em, "you're too immature, you don't know anything, you have no life experience, you don't know near as much about anything as I do, so just shut up there ya little kid and let the grown-ups do the talking."

At this point you are showing your age and becoming pesky

At this point you are showing your sex and becoming [wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth]y.
