I mean, he has to leave in 2028, right? heh-heh? Right?
It's hard to really think of this situation in real terms. I mean, part of 'my personal situation' is my feeling about whether America is on the right track, and doing the right things and not the wrong things. His messaging indicates I won't be happy if he executes his stated plans. Sure, I can wait to see what he actually does, but I have no reason to believe (and every reason not to) that he will run the country in a way I approve of.
If somehow I could restrict my opinion to purely selfish motives, it would depend on whether "the improvement in my situation" is directly attributable to Trump's actions. We all know that many things, from the stock market to gas prices, are not directly under the president's control, no matter how much they take credit for them when they are good.
Sure, Trump could remove his cap on the SALT deduction, which was entirely created to punish people in (mostly blue) states with high taxes. That would put some money back in my pocket that he took away. But money is not really a strong motivator for me when evaluating a president. And his stated plans for tariffs would appear to inevitably lead to a worse financial situation for everybody, as the GOP of yesteryear would tell you.
I have it easy; most of Trump's bad policies don't target me: White, male, cisgendered, and if I wear a cap, you can't see the horns growing out of my head. But again, my personal situation is not as important to me in a president as the situation of the nation.
