I just can't buy number 2. If it was water as the water breaking in the womb, born again from above seems to take place at the same time or too short or a time after birth. It just doesn't make sense to me...

Yeah that's cool... like I said there are varying opinions... I wouldn't disagree with you at all (unless you picked option 1 as in Baptism is mandatory). But to take option 3... no argument from me..

**Just as a side note. I wonder if you (not FreeinChrist but whoever reads this) know that baptism was not a "New Testament" custom so to speak. The ancient Jews practiced baptism as well.. an interesting study if you ever feel like it..**

The term mikveh in Hebrew literally means any gathering of waters, but is specifically used in Jewish law for the waters or bath for the ritual immersion. The building of the mikveh was so important in ancient times it was said to take precedence over the construction of a synagogue. Immersion was so important that it occurred before the high Priest conducted the service on the Day of Atonement, before the regular priests participated in the Temple service, before each person entered the Temple complex, before a scribe wrote the name of God, as well as several other occasions."

I read up on it a lil... enough for it to help (because the true convinceing was w/ the bible) convince me that Baptism should be done by believers by immersion.
