Eeeks! That last post, with what happened, is not good! Though, I do remember learning something about it before. *shakes head* Some people never learn! Thanks for the other post too. yeah, sounds right too. The state's got some history, eh? :)

Good point. With St. Augustine being the oldest U.S. city, and all the things that have happened in Miami, and Disney World in Orlando, etc., this State does indeed have some great history. And the weather...that's the best. I would rather live in Florida than any other State. Sure, California has mountains as well as beaches, but they also have mudslides and earthquakes. I've been through a number of hurricanes, but I've never been in an earthquake (OR a mudslide). I think I would rather be in a major hurricane than a major earthquake...or a huge mudslide. And as far as the other States, I'll take the beaches over the snow any day. I'm a lover of tropical weather. Now, Hawaii is a pretty great and beautiful place too, but I don't trust those volcanoes. So, yeah, Florida is my favorite place to be.

:) Yeah, the weather's a plus. :( I've been through a CA earthquake or two. No fun! Missed mudslides so far. Not sure if I want to stay here much longer, but that's due to there being a ton of people here, and my allergies getting worse.

lol Nah, it's ok, I promise! :) Actually, my maternal grandmother admitted to us having some Cherokee in us! Not that my brother likes it much, but that have nothing to do with my screenname, oddly enough! lol It was due to a conversation I was having with someone when I was registering, involving just how loud I can get when I'm NOT paying attention, etc!! lol

Yeah, its a pain when people try to make you into something that you're not, or when people don't accept you for who you are.

I know I'm changing the subject now, but I went to St. Augustine this weekend, and they said that Ponce de Leon claimed all of America for Spain, but called the entire country Florida, which it was called until they changed the name to the United States. I had heard that before from one person, but wasn't sure whether it was true; but this confirmed it.
St Augustine has to be one of the more beautiful cities in the USA.

So far as claiming all the country, so did everyone else, but if you did not back up that claim, others jumped it! LOL!

Did you know that the Cherokee were the only tribe with a written language and that written language was very similar to paleo-Hebrew? Interesting to speculate about, isn't it? :)

LMHO!! That's hilarious!

Part of the reason I was asking was that I have a book called "Whiteman's Gospel" (haven't read the whole thing yet), which is very eye-opening about the way that the gospel has been presented to Native Americans, and the way that Native Americans tend to perceive it.

Yeah, I think you're right about that.

:) Glad that background doesn't bother you any....and I think I've heard of the book, though I've not read it. Hmm, I may have to, for I had some major problems when I first heard the Gospel....

haha! I want to say that happened Memorial Day weekend of 1996. I remember the trip very well. We started out on the turnpike and I realized I was headed North instead of South - so we used one of the Official Use Only U-turns to turn around. :sorry: It was a great trip, tho. Ah, to be young and be free to pick up and go!
