CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I just think it is plain wrong it is hard to express why, maybe because I am not 100% sure why, but I just find it very distasteful. seeing other people do it, it is just not proper behaviour. I think it is rude, incredibly disrespectful, ill-mannered and exceptionally sleazy. I find it to be really quite shallow. the entire culture and principle behind it seems to be that causal sexual encounters are normal, acceptable and good.
but that's just me...

I tend to be fairly flirtatious, but I'm also quite good at keeping things respectable. (And I have no problem with flirting, so long as it doesn't cross the line into sexual harassment).
My grandmother told me, when I was a little girl, that "proper" flirting should be along the lines of, "Oh, aren't you a charming person," as opposed to "Hi, I want you!". Good rule to follow, I think.
There's also so much more to flirting than verbal stuff - eye contact, body posture, all kinds of stuff that I can guarantee almost all of us do unconsciously. Go get a cup of coffee or a soda and sit and watch people some time and notice how they'll mirror each other's body postures and stuff, it's fascinating!

There is more to flirting than just being around and sweet-talking them. Indeed watch the eyes, the mouths, and the emotions and body language as well.

flirting in this church i go to is not tolerable. we are to treat the girls as if they are our sisters... with the utmost purity. and we cannot date anyone outside of the church...hmmm how am i ever suppose to get a girlfriend. i think they are trying to force us to stay single like paul did.

I used to habitually flirt.. and i forcefuly stopped it, since i hurt too many guys....
But in general i don't think flirting is bad, you have to be careful whether it's coming across wrong tho...

Flirting... I think there are two kinds...
Mind play/intellectual banter: flirting by conversation-based attraction... playing and flirting through the mind... attraction to the wit, the knowledge, and the prowess of the other person...
Sexual flirting: Body language, eye contact, movement, etc... Things that don't indulge the intellectual mind.
Both are dangerous!
