  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So you post a video that debunks your claim. Interesting.

Oops, there is a video out there that proves the moon gives of her own light, I can't find it at the mo, but I will.

There are many in the scientific community who reject evolution. Read a little on "intelligent design" if you want to learn more about these people.

A reflector is just as much a source of light as an emitter, but it will always be a lesser light than the emitter.

Really well someone posted about a christian mathematician an Irish person, who accepts evolution. he states something like God worked through evolution.

So what do you believe is the moon a created light or a light reflector
Don't know. I'm not a scientist, as I have already said; I'd need to look it up.

But even if it is a reflected light, that does not contradict the Bible.
Have you ever worn a watch/metal ornament inside the house on a sunny day? Have you ever noticed how the sunlight catches the metal and reflects a beam of light onto the ceiling, or a nearby wall? When that happens, my cat sometimes tries to catch it and I tease him by waving my arm around.
Look at that little patch of light; that is a source of light but has been reflected off something else. My watch does not normally give off light.

God's point was that he created two sources of light; one for the day and one for the night; he created, end of.
Or do you think he should have said either, " don't go assuming the moon gives off its own light, Moses, because it reflects it from the sun" or "no, the moon produces its own light; it's fine, you can teach everyone that."

The Bible is not a science textbook. It was not God's plan to explain astronomy, biology, and human biology to everyone. It was his plan to reveal himself, that he is our God and that we were created to have a relationship with him. He tells us of his love, patience, kindness and desire to have a holy people who love, obey and follow him.

No just the earth, the sky is our atmosphere which is under the firmament/dome.
So why does the night scenery change over time?

You are an example of this.

What does every creation account start with in Genesis 1
"God said, God did, God saw..." - i.e. some human author presents a narrative to us.

If it was dictated by God, it would be "I said, I did, I made, I saw...".

Easy, right?

I planned to watch some sci-fi movies today, but I got bored and stopped doing that after ten minutes and watched something else. Life happens.
Did you feel that strong gust of wind blowing over your head?

If you mean the constellations then they don't, this is what I can't get my head around, if the earth is spinning at 66,000 mph & the solar system is hurtling through space at ridiculous speeds, then by rights we shouldn't see the same constellations night after night, the stars would be all over the place.

If you stood at the edge of a runway as a plane was taking off it would move past you very quickly indeed. Now look at a plane overhead, one that's a very long way away. It looks like it's moving very slowly.

The further something is from you, the slower it appears to move. So those lights in the night sky, some are stars and some are galaxies, but they're futher away than you can imagine. So they hardly appear to move at all.

Measured that distance yet?

@Bradskii I've done this and it says the distance is 45Km.
Cool. So we both know that's about right. If you want to test it again with another distance that you know - say from Swansea to London, which is about 150 miles (or 250kms), then go ahead. But I want to agree that the distances given are reasonably accurate.

Are we agreed?
