Most flat earthers I’ve encountered don’t even think the planets ARE planets. They think they’re just lights, like the stars.

I'm willing to wager that a good portion of FEers (and indeed other conspiracy theory supporters) here are nothing but trolls. Some of the stuff that flows out of their keyboard is just such sheer stupidity that it makes me believe they're here for the sole purpose of making light of the complete foolishness of FE "theory".

In my opinion, the Flat Earthers are a group that is defined not so much by believing the Earth is flat, but rather, they are defined by a need to demonstrate self appointed intellectual superiority.

If we all thought the earth was flat, Flat Earthers would claim it was a sphere...

that is, they are Contrarians.

THey need some sort of cause that enables them to walk around thinking they are better and smarter than everyone else. This is why the correlation is so high between Flat Earthers and Conspiracy theorists.

COnspiracy theories are another vehicle that enable you to think that you and you alone were "smart enough" to see the truth that everyone else was too dumb or blind to see...

I realize that would be too much for trolls to handle.

The first point is inaccurate. They actually duplicated the result of the Michelson-Gale experiment, demonstrating the rotation of the ether. The second point is also inaccurate as the test with Jeran was inconclusive as the measurement supported neither the globe or flat earth hypothesis, and is currently under planning for a retest. If you want more info, I guess you'll just have to watch the 3-hours of detail I left in the other thread.
