I know Christianity steers us away from judging by appearance but I have to say, most churches are visually drab.

If I designed a church it would be painted with attractive colors outside and in! I'd have jade green, maybe some yellow, and beautiful shades of red.

You can never appreciate stained glass windows from the outside; they just look dark. So why not put mosaics on the outer walls made of lots of bits of coloured glass?

I would have big noticeboards covered with photos of all the activities that go on in the church. Represent visually the life and vitality that Jesus can bring to a faith community, instead of making churches seem like dull, closed and closing urban buildings.

Hi again,

I'm studying the strengths and weaknesses of getting churches to provide community services. Over here in the UK, the Government wants faith groups to do more of this.

It's challenging because as well as the many strengths, you are forced to see the weaknesses of the church as significant.

How're things with you?

Sounds interesting!
I'm in the UK too.. in one of the churches doing such... we are working with the community group and police on a local estate.

It's muggy up here in t'North.. so it must be worse for you!
