Dude, it was eradicated in NZ, take another look at your graph.
Dude. It wasn't. Take another look at my graph. New Zealand has had twice as many cumulative infections per capita as the United States has had. As I said, at best, you suppressed the disease for a time. But you did not "eradicate" anything.
Perhaps you don't realize that words have meanings. From Merriam Webster:
Eradicate: To do away with completely, as if by pulling up by the roots
Imagine for a minute if you will a yard full of weeds. I go outside with my lawn tractor and run them all over, cutting them down to the ground. Did I "eradicate" the weeds? I mean, you can't see them any more. It will appear as f they're gone for an extended period of time. I can even lie to myself and others and tell people that I "eradicated" the weeds, and some might believe me in that moment because of what they see. But they are not, and never were, "eradicated". And when the weeds come roaring back, everyone would see that my claims of "eradication" were completely false.
Likewise with COVID in New Zealand. There was a period of time when you were lied by your government to and told that if only you'd follow the mitigation measures, you would achieve zero COVID. But you did not. As the graph shows, you experienced an almost instant precipitous increase of infections that climbed far above the rate in the United States in just a few short months. That does not happen with diseases that have been successfully "eradicated".
Much like weeds in the yard, your government instituted unsustainable, liberty-crushing mandates that did nothing to "eradicate" the disease. It was suppressed for a very brief period of time. And apparently, many people in New Zealand fell for it, never giving a second thought to the the people whose lives were ending daily from other causes in isolation while separated from their loved ones. The myopic and selfish focus on COVID meant that families were denied closure at the death of loved ones for an extended period of time. But that didn't matter. As long as the COVID graph stayed at zero,. people were satisfied that they were "doing something". Until the ruse became unsustainable, and the entire world saw the weeds shoot up from below the surface.
