  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Song of the South. Bloody classic.

I recall there was a reshowing of it at the movie theaters in the mid-1980s sometime, and I went with some friends to watch it. But I have heard somewhere that some people got the notion that it was supposedly "racial" because of the Uncle Remus character, and because of that they haven't yet released it to video/DVD. It's just too bad that people are so shallow about things. There is a new generation here that is missing out on a real movie gem.

And I wouldn't mind having it in my movie library, myself. I haven't seen it since I was a kid.

Yeah, that whole idiotic notion of political correctness makes me sick. I bet if they threw in a scene of Uncle Remus engaging in a homosexual dalliance, they'd reissue the film, nominate it for an Oscar, and make it mandatory viewing for first graders.

Do you realize that you are putting forth an argument that is based upon utter nonsense?

Yes, it would be great if Disney released Song of the South on DVD/Blu-Ray. I don't recall if I ever saw the entire movie or just clips on WWD when I was a kid.

Right now Meet the Robinsons is my favorite Disney movie. I love the message of that movie and the motto of Keep Moving Forward. I love the score and soundtrack of the movie too.

I was born in the 70's, so I must be ancient to you ^_^

I can only pick one...its a tie between the original TRON...sorry the new one had great effects but that is no excuse for a poor story...the original had a plot and good effects for its day....thats tied with The Black hole...yes it was a disney made film and had a decent plot and decent effects for its time.

I just watched that last week with hubby, and we thought Moonraker was bad. That's an 1hr and 40 min we won't get back. Don't get me started on that soundtrack :sorry: I do hear that Disney is remaking it with the Tron: Legacy team, so now you have something to look forward too
