Final Fantasy 3 (U.S.) is my favorite RPG of all time. I don't think I could count how many hours I spent in that game. I have yet to play an RPG that has such a deep storyline.

A close second would have to be Chrono Trigger. Many hours in that game too! Good stuff.

Baldur's Gate II:SOA. Not only fun, but I also played with all the evil characters, because let's face it, they had much better lines. And I also think Irenicus was a great villian, voiced by David Warner, who I saw in the mst3k'ing of the movie, Quest of the Delta Knights.

Oh yeah! I love almost anything FF-VII was my least favorite and that was for some content specific to it alone, nevertheless I love that entire series.

Yeah, Chrono Trigger is wonderful-it's my co-favorite along with the FF series. Have you ever played Chrono Cross? It's like one of the best combinations of anime and game ever done so far. . .so if you're similar to me and like both anime and RPGs, it's a definite recommend.

Actually I bought Chrono Cross and played a few hours of it, but for some reason I just couldn't get into it. Not sure why.

I've recently got into Final Fantasy X and am in the process of working through that one. Seems pretty good so far except for the sometimes skimpy clothing.

Yeah, fanservice is really stupid (haven't played FFX yet since I don't have a PS2). What's worse, I heard there's going to be even more fanservice in FFX2, which annoys me to no end >_<

I mean, FFX2 will be the first game with a female character as the lead, and instead of making Yuna a strong character and worthy of being the first female main character in the history of the series, it looks like she's going to be more fanservice eye candy than anything else. Grr. >_<

Probably. Sounds a lot like Hollywood today.

Personally, I want to see more fantasy-oriented Final Fantasy games. In the medieval sense with knights/dragons/princesses, etc... I think the Suikoden series fits that category well, though I haven't played 2 or 3. I think that brings more of an adventure aspect to it rather than a Sci-Fi feel. It all surrounds story though, and FF3 definately had it. I enjoyed FF9 as well, though it seemed short to me. I was thrilled to see another true-fantasy epic in the series. I just hope they decide to go that route once more.

Ooooooooo!

You guys are all wrong! ;)

Except Ajinn. Baldur's Gate... oi, I loved those games, I still have vivid memories of the first time I played Baldur's Gate. Got it from the library.. wow, like 5 or 6 years ago now. That game was so, so fun.

I've played BG 1, BG2, and BG2: ToB (exp pack)..

and now, the best of the mall, though not directly related to BG (same people, same company, same world, but different story) ... Neverwinter Nights.

Awesome game. :D

Yes, those were indeed a lot of fun while they lasted. Icewind Dale series as well. The reason I prefer Morrowind over those is because it is so open ended. I have never played a single player game that is more true to role play, or more rich than Morrowind. Add to it the possibility of users making hundreds of additions using the construction set that comes with it and you've got a game that has a potential of staying fresh for many years to come.

I had the most fun with FF7...10 was ok, I liked some of the side games, but spent way too much time on blitzball...I was liking 8 until I hit the orphanage and all the characters were from the same place...never got into 9...

BG SOA is pretty cool...try a monk...they're cool when they get to a high level..

This thread is evil. It got me to thinking about BG2: SOA again, so installed it, and TOB and The Darkest Day expansion pack. Fear the Kensai!

Oh, and btw, I lied in my original post. BG2 isn't the greatest rpg of all time. It's clearly...Quest 64!!!!

Henchman are more like followers, you don't really directly control them, Mr. Cheese... :D

NWN is really really cool. ok, so it's not open-ended on the client-side. But once you start an online persistent-world, the adventures never end! :)

i am definately digging NeverWinter Nights...and it's great... i think that the 3rd ed rules kind of stink though. it's really changed the flavor of the game to somehing more like GURPS.

probably my favorite RPG (we aren't sticking to electronic games are we?) was Star Frontiers. fantastic space based adventure game.. it took some doing for the GM... but as a player, man... it was sweet..
