I think it's OK to weigh someone else, and warn others regarding your observations.

When I said "who are you to call others self-appointed?" I'm pointing out your double standard. (you misquoted me in your post)

You see Pete, you are also a "watchman".
I apologize for misquoting you. What I meant to post was "who are [we] to call others self-appointed?" I forgot to add the brackets, and it was not my intent to misquote you.

I suppose if you want to use a really broad-sweeping definition of "watchman" to include anyone who ever speaks an opinion, then yes, I am a "watchman" of the "watchman".

Now all we need is a watchman to watch the watchman's watchman, and we'll be all set. :p

The point I'm trying to make is, we all should be accountable to one another, and there is no "position" or "title" of watchman that makes anyone more special than another.

But I've observed that when you dare to question those who are so quick to question others, and you get accused of all kinds of stuff. THAT is the double standard in play.

I can't help but wonder if anyone have checked out the comments made in Item 1 of this thread, and since then I have viewed a number of TBs videos that have been polished up and tampered with. But of course, there is no proof if you haven’t the originals to compare with the reedited ones.

Anyway, this "wind of change" that the false teacher/prophet talks about as the “outpouring” and “revival” has caused many God-anointed ministries to be flooded with emails from millions of concerns believers of the Body of Christ.

They all basically express the same concerns and warning that those members of the Body of Christ are falling to the seduction and deception of the falseness and "signs and wonders". Of course any further comment that I make will be received with the normal contempt.

This so-called the “third wave” is no different to the “first wave” called the Toronto Blessing that fizzled out, and then the “second wave” at Pensacola, which had the same fate.

This “third wave” is no different to the “first”, or the “second”, sad as it is, folks are coming from around the world for the “anointing”, and many will be burnt the same as those in the “first” and “second”.

The editor of Charisma Magazin, Lee Grady, sounds a warning:

“My inbox has been full of messages from Charismatic leaders who are concerned about everything from Bentley's tattoos and body piercings to his claim that he once interviewed the apostle Paul in Heaven. When I called for scrutiny of some aspects of the Lakeland Revival, I was labelled a Pharisee and a ‘religious policeman’. I had suddenly become the enemy.”

So much for a revival, when any discerning Christian expresses their concerns, all those ratbags comes flying back with apostasy. Wake up the Body of Christ you are being deceived and seduced by the “angel of light”!

Be blessed in Jesus’ Name.

Ratbags? Wow. Who are they?

Pete,

No offense taken, I figured it was just a typo.

Regarding questioning the questioners. I personally don't have a problem with that, as long as it isn't the same old "you have no right to judge a brother" stuff.

That's where the double standard is. When people who claim to believe we shouldn't judge, judge us!!!

I agree that we should be accountable to one another; and that includes Todd Bentley.

We often hold each other (especially you Pete :D) accountable for our words on these forums. Todd Bentley - with his huge influence - definately needs to be held acountable for his words by other Christians.

Most of us don't call ourselves "watchmen". I certainly don't. We are just responsible Christians doing what the Lord has told us to do. Holding Bentley's (and others) teaching up to the light.

If Bentley's teaching is sound, he has nothing to worry about. But when his teaching on his web site gets doctored, with no admission to error, it should be clear to all that something is very wrong.

That is what this thread is about

This is funny cause this "angel" Emma was mentioned when this Lakeland thing started, people brought up doubts and questions about what that was all about, and got totally lambasted by others here for even questioning it's legitimacy as being "from/of God", now people act like it's all new info that TB even had an "angel". ROTFL
I'm confounded! Admittedly this is the best and most civil thread about this subject, and I respect the OP for putting it to us as a legit question that hits home with a lot of people.

Continue.

I came to this thread hoping to learn more about TB. I heard about him elsewhere and started to look into his ministry.

Has anyone ever heard him teach from the pulpit? If so, does he teach the Gospel as written? Does he speak of salvation through Jesus Christ or only healing? Does he prepare his flock to go out and spread the Gospel to others as we are commanded?

I ask this because all I have seen of the guy is the healing videos or him talking about healing people. I am wondering if there is anymore to his ministry.

If the body of Christ, whether for or against Todd Bentley focus on more of Jesus, knowing Him more, being filled with the Holy Spirit, discernment, and following Jesus in all we do we will not go wrong.
Surely it is dangerous to judge any brother or sister in Christ because they once said something which is contrary to your theological standpoint. None of us have a perfect theological understanding, we are a work in progress. The name of Jesus must be glorified at all times, He must be lifted high and God is still at work in Toronto and I believe in Pensacola. Revivals involve people , we are not perfect so the flesh does from time get involved but God can work despite us and I would be very careful about judging that which the Holy Spirit may be doing and referring to it as the work of the devil, which infact is being done here.

I think that there is a big difference between "judging" and "speaking out" and "warning" and "expressing concerns".

Be blessed in Jesus' Name.

I have moved from churches previously because of error in teaching. I will make a stance when I see serious error, particularly anything that detracts from the Lord Jesus Christ. BTW I was healed of a lump under my left arm weeks ago while watching the Revival on TV, Todd Bentley gave a word of knowledge and I received my healing. God can use Todd Bentley or anyone who is willing for God to work through them. God healed me, He is my healer.
That is so true, by His Stripes you will be healed. And yes, HE is our healers.

Be blessed in Jesus' Name.

I'm confused, how does ANYTHING said on a forum hold TB or anyone accountable by other Christians.

I doubt you are confused. It's more likely you are choosing to take a very narrow view of the word "accountable".

Though actually Todd has said that he's been reading many of the things written about him and his teachings on the internet; and he's felt obligated to answer his critics in his televised meetings as well as in a lengthy written response on his web site.

A widespread grass roots internet based rejection of many of Todd's teachings by Christians, is holding him accountable.

Thank God for the Internet. As well as, regrettably, embarrassing some good men it also has the ability to take the sheepskin off wolves. My guess is, fraudulent ministries are not as quick these days to defraud God’s people. They may wind up on YouTube.

I completely agree. I would have more understanding if the watchmen dealt with this by going to him, and pasting his email response here. I don't see the fruit of their warnings here, except everyone begins to feel defensive that "they are right." I feel what is being couched as a warning is slander against someone who can't defend themselves. The reason that bothers me is because the fruit of it seems to be division between the body. We begin to argue the tiniest details trying to convince each other their biblical quality and meaning, instead of going to the source.

Even in our flawed legal system the guilty have opportunity to face their accusers and give defense.
