child we adopted from another country doesn't look like us

I agree about adoption, but I think more would adopt if they didn't make adoption so expensive and time consuming with a long waiting list like they do. They need to fix that system. I think that's why a lot of people adopt from outside of the country, because here there's a 10 year waiting list and it costs like more than $10,000. If people have to spend that kind of money, they would rather do IVF. The whole adoption system need to be reworked and made easier. They need to take away any age limits, like for older people too. They need to stop requiring that people be almost rich in order to adopt. There are lots of people who want to adopt but can't afford it. So I agree with you, I just think the whole system needs to be fixed. And now with abortion off the table, maybe they WILL fix the broken system.

please don't say well they should know better/not have more kids cause it doesn't work that way
Lots of poor people are good for Christianity. It’s all part of the plan to get more people hooked on Jesus: if your life is rubbish you’re easier to recruit.

correct me if I'm wrong but don't think it's expensive to adopt from foster care
if one wants a younger child from foster care, one would need to do the foster-to-adopt program

we did an int'l adoption which is more expensive than adopting from foster care due to travel to country (travel/hotel expenses make up most of the cost)
however, an adoption tax credit refunded many costs

age? I know someone in their 60s who adopted a child with special needs...exceptions are often made

More than merely promoting adoption we should be trying to revive older standards of sexual conduct. Preferably ones wherein men and women feel some amount of shame and stigma for having children and sexual encounters outside of marriage.
I much prefer the current stigma and shame some Christians experience for some of their beliefs and attitudes.

So much for the sexual revolution all it did was produce unwanted kids that people just wanted to abort, what a great accomplishment.
I dunno, I had intercourse thousands of times and managed to only have one child.

With the right access to sexual health education and easy availability of contraception……. Oh wait.

good luck with that!
in our neighborhood alone, 2 parents had their unwed adult pregnant daughters move back home until they got their lives together

AND a local Pastor got his girlfriend pregnant
he had to give up being Pastor
they did marry before the baby arrived

if a Pastor can't set a good example, who can?

That’s our vital supply of domestic infants the justice was concerned about maintaining.
Don’t forget cannon fodder for the next American special military operations.

No doubt you do, as it reinforces your worldview. I much prefer actual sin be shamed and have a certain stigma rather than good standards and morals.

I suppose I don't see the solution as to give into that culture and surrender to it. Might as well give up on Christianity at that point. Priests and clergy can be wrong as well, they should punished by being removed from ministry and barred from returning to it in such circumstances. The Pastor you mention at least took responsibility for his sin.

We will have to wait for that one of the justices to come out and say that.

People who can't afford to take care of a child or another one shouldn't have them.
All of these "aid" programs cause more problems. They are supposed to be temporary and short-term but certain "people" have learned how to ride them for upwards of 10 years.
B/c of evil and ignorant people there is a high rate of unplanned pregnancies and people who simply "dump" them.
Adopting is costly and time consuming and there's still no guarantee. The system in this is broken.
God isn't some genie one can conjure b/c one "thinks" about adopting. The problem is the source of so many unwed people having unplanned children.

But you can be married and poor and have unplanned children too.

there are adoption grants available

Adoption Grants - National Adoption Foundation

https://adoptiongrants.com/5-easy-adoption-grants-everyone-apply/

also, gofundme

the couple with the 60 + age husband had a friend set up a gofundme for them
I was shocked they asked for $40,000 which is more than the cost of adoption...they got the $40,000!

For every successful gofundme there are a dozen or more that are not meeting their targets. You just need to browse through gofundme pages and see there is a problem if you want to use it yourself.

first of all, one can't just start a gofundme & leave it there

the couple spread the adoption news through FB, multiple blogs, as well as getting an article in newspaper....they put a link to one blog on an active forum

the blogs had gofundme link

Yes. Abstinence is one of many choices for many to get out of stay poverty.
  • Find a job. ANY job is better than no job.
  • Don't lower standards and find a good man or woman respectively, get and STAY married.
  • Plan to have children. Controlling urges isn't hard.
  • Don't use credit unless you have to and only low interest, non-major corporation backed credit.
  • Do not have kids out of wedlock.
At a minimum, these must be adhered to.
