As for consensus (and your strange examples), was it empirically valid and tested that dark people are animals or was it fear based propaganda from a group that wielded extreme social power? What kind of data analysis was done to support the theory that germs were little demons. I would literally love to read that paper!

You don't remember On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life by Charles Darwin?

The Church, and Academia adopted his theory on the "races" for a very long time, and depending on where you are it is still the case. The Church was especially staunch on Darwinism and races to justify their imperialism, or "spreading the truth." Academia prefers more subtle conflagration - buried in biology, for example.

Those example I gave weren't weird; they were examples of the hauteur and myopia of academics.

Barry Marshall had to drink an entire petri dish of H. Pylori because academia refused to believe ulcers were caused by bacterial infection. The concensus was that ulcers were caused by spices, and stress.

Barry Marshall was awarded the Nobel Prize in medicine and physiology in 2005 - 2005! He and his partner were studying and publishing their findings since the early 1980s.

We have not come very far, and this is why I said concensus is the absolutely wrong parameter to judge academic paradigms. Too much progress has been ignored because of the consensual immobility of minds.

We're told that 97% of all scientists around the world believe man-made global warming.

That is not an accurate statement. The 97% is not what scientists believe. The 97% is what the actual peer reviewed published climate science shows. Now, just speaking of scientists around the world, 100% of the National Academy's of Science around the world have published statements affirming climate change and attribute it to anthropogenic processes.

But there's records in the ice and otherwise that tell us there were times when the carbon levels where much higher than they are today, and the earth was much warmer than it is today.

There are no 'ice records' that show CO2 levels higher in the past than today. The last time time CO2 exceeded 400 ppm was the mid Pliocene 2.2 - 3.6 Ma. and is shown in sediment cores, not ice cores. And yes, the earth has been much warmer than it is today. However, that is when the global continental configuration did not cover the poles forming ice caps nor were there 7 billion humans with limited agricultural space available.

The sun and the earth have cycles.

They certainly do. Milankovitch Cycles show that we are progressing toward an ice age cycle, however, global average temperatures continue to increase at a rate not seen in proxy records. As for the sun, TSI has been decreasing over the past 40 years while GAT's continue to increase.

I am not a climatologist, or atmospheric chemist.

My expertise is mathematics - mathematical physics, numerical methods, dynamical systems, and topological field theory.

But, as a mathematician that does stochastic modeing, I can see the mistakes in the fundamentals, and presentation of research because of my experience in academia, and because of my math background.

I know what it takes to provide precise AND accurate results on a 4,500,000,000 year old DYNAMICAL system. You need an entire city block of current-generation quantum computing processors to get within 1/1000 of the accurate data needed to produce such confident statements in AGW.

I can calculate the theory based models for AGW, and it doesn't work without accepting massive amounts of extrapolated error.

I don't dare dismiss an entire field of study, and in fact many brilliant scientists have no idea of the politics and "liberties" taken in research methods.

The university from which I graduated required us to take graduate modules on ethics - and much of the "maligned" sentiments I have for academia was a taught apprehension to have based on the ethical trajectory and history of academia.

Not to mention working in academia. Although, I will say mathematicians are somewhat of a "political peninsula" when it comes to raw scientific philosophy - perhaps due to the purity of numbers and operations in general. We spend a great deal of time proving certain elements of certain spaces can perform operations - like adding a + a: it does not always equal 2a, nor is the operator "+" necessarily a legal operation.

So, my responses come from my experience, but my experience is heavily influenced by academia and politics of academia - from schooling to industry.

Why did the leading scientists at NOAA do this? It is pretty self explanatory. The Pause has showed CO2 as second or third order in regulating Earth's temperature which is contrary to what many leading scientific and political groups have before the world stated over and over and over.

Rather than agree with observation they hold to a failing theory. In holding to the failing theory they chose to hide their intensions, willfully produce fake data, and try to deceive the masses. And then a whistle-blower stands forth.

I believe that, as with climate change alarmism, it was fear based propaganda from a group that wielded extreme social power. The similarity between eugenicists and climate alarmists on the cherry picking of data is also most instructive.

I mean, you'd be wrong but you certainly do believe that.

And by cherry picking data, you mean that those silly finicky scientists pick out 95% of the data that fits their theory and ignores the rest?

Oh, don't worry. I wouldn't want to put that on you; I'm not sure I'd trust you to be able to establish what settled science looks like. I'm not 100% confident in skeptic's ability to find "manipulated data" either so.....
