I'd be patient with him because your illness is one of the most difficult illnesses to treat. If he gets to the point where he says he doesn't know what else to do that is when I would leave for someone else.

The important thing is keeping him up to date on your symptoms. He has to know as soon as possible you are still hearing voices. If you just go into the next appointment and aren't open about your current symptoms he can't do anything. So definitely let him know whats going on.

I agree. Make sure your medication is right, that way the christian counselor can have a bigger impact.

I'm losing my ability to discern the spirits (meaning the voices in my head, the ones from God vs. the ones from me), and am experiencing doubts about my faith. I'm not sure what to do.

"Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Ro 10:17 Read the Bible every day. When you can't discern "voices in your head" hear from God in black and white, reading His Word. Talk to Him about this problem. I can draw two boxes on a piece of paper and make a list in each. When I am reading the Bible daily, praying, going to church regularly, and sharing my faith with others, I list this in the first box, and God is very clear to me. In the other box, when I am not doing these things, God is hazy, and my faith is not strong. Put this into practice and see if the doubts about your faith disappear. The world, the flesh, and the devil want to distract us from God, keeping us in the second box.

First of all, I should tell you I tend to be very direct in what I say in general and it certainly comes across like that here.

I say this out of love in Christ, but I do think you have an illness that is affecting your walk with God as well. I have seen a couple of posts you have made and think you definitely need to keep up with your treatment. You mentioned seeing a psychiatrist and a Christian counsellor, but I would recommend you try to find a fully qualified psychiatrist who is a Christian if you can and effectively combine the two into one. A counsellor by themselves is unlikely to have the medical training and expertise of a psychiatrist so may not be the best person to help with your illness.

As I said in your last thread I saw, it would probably do you good to spend time in the Word and in worship to help you revive your relationship with God.

Ignore all the advice to see a doctor it is misguided. Doctors don't understand the spiritual realm, and will give you a diagnosis of schizophrenia which is entirely wrong in this or any other situation. You will be forced to take medication which will damage your body. It is shameful for the posters making the doctor statement that they know so little about the spiritual realm that they would advise you to see a doctor. Voices come from demons and can be stopped by consistent and dedicated prayer and by living a concecrated life. I know because I have experienced voices and beaten them.

I actually agree. I am going to talk to my regular psychiatrist, and also get a Christian counselor, but mostly just to humor these posters, rather than believing it will really help me a whole lot.

I am pumped up on so much depression and schizophrenia medication right now, that my psychiatrist thinks I shouldn't experience depression at all. He said so, twice. So when I tell him I'm feeling depressed, it's almost like he doesn't even believe me.

These are the times you have to plow through. Were you ever an athlete? If yes you know that the only way your muscles grow is when you exercise WHEN TIRED. If you stop when you begin to tire you don't increase stamina and strength. Well, it is the same in the spirit. Right now you are tired, but in order to grow you need to fight through the adversity before you. The Holy Spirit didn't leave you... and that is the problem with this fact... the Lord isn't the only spirit that can whisper in our ears. That thought is contrary to God's word... therefore, it isn't from God. And Albion is correct... now more than ever is the time for you to get into the word.

If you think your problem is demon possession, you should think about taking this to a forum where you can find folks who thrive on that kind of stuff and see a demon around every corner.

The issues you are having very well could all be spiritual, but I would continue seeing my psychiatrist, if I were you, along with these other things. If this all stems from the spiritual then you can work that out with a pastor or counselor, then you may no longer need therapy and meds...but please don't stop going or taking your meds because you THINK it's only spiritual. I believe healing comes from God, but sometimes He uses medical science for that purpose.

Agreed, if I could take medicine to at least help my depression and hallucinations I would. Treat the physical physically and spiritual spiritually. Easier said than done but still an option.

The word of God is food and inspiration to your spirit man. So basically you're saying "I don't feel like eating food right now because I'm hungry."

I would invest in faith based teachings and stay with it until it is rooted deep inside.

Are you baptized in the Holy Spirit? I don't know what these folks believe here. But read Acts the 19th chapter and ask yourself if you've received this gift from the baptizer, that's Jesus. Then you will have the power to do spiritual battle per Ephesians the 6th chapter. I pray God fill you with His Holy Spirit. Amen
