Don't know about any exercises, but I've also been told that I have patella femoral syndrome and all the orthopedic specialist did was to prescribe physical therapy, which did help, but not long term. I've since started going to a chiropractic~ the only reason I started going to him is because he became a good family friend and I knew I could trust him~ and found out that my knee problems are probably due to the fact that my back is practically in the shape of a question mark! I see Sean about once a week and the excruciating pain from my knees have not returned...even if I run a mile on the treadmill! If you've never thought about seeing a Chiropractor I would definitely recommend checking into it. There are different forms of Chiropractic medicine, so it would probably be best to just talk to the doctors, find out what method they use and then choose the one that you are the most comfortable one. Sean doesn't do the contortions that most people associate with chiropractors which is why I like going to him. I think his method is called manipulative...or something like that.

P.S. Love your signature!

I have really bad knees too, along with chronic back problems (thanks to the knees). So, I "get" where you are coming from. :) For me, the best exercise that I get is from my stationary rowing machine. Who knew that highschool Crew would be helpful now?? lol It has been great for getting me moving, but keeping the weight and stress off of my joints. It has also helped to strengthen my back, along with my abs. The best part is that after I exercise, I can still walk for the rest of the day. I also like to swim, which is absolutely great, as I'm sure you know. Other than that, walking is always good, even if it is at a slow pace. I can't say enough about having good walking shoes. If I throw on a cheap pair of shoes that don't fit real well, or offer good cushion and support, my knee swells up like an overstuffed sausage.

I think you should qualify for some kind of physical therapy!!!!! Please ask about your doctor prescribing some for you at Levi Arthritis Hospital in Hot Springs. My mother broke her thigh bone at age 85 and the only way she could possibly exercise was in the natural hot (they cool it to comfort) springs water pool at Levi. You see, the water lightens the weight of your body to move while the thermal water improves your arthritis. People who have massive athristis are often carried into this hospital and months later or sooner, WALK out.

And you can also have massage and hot thermal water packs applied, as well. You really need some way to keep the stress of your weight off of your arthritic knees. Perhaps even some therapy in a pool nearer to your home.

God's speed and Blessings. Feel free to Pm me or any questions I could answer. I was diagnosed with cartilege damage in both knees in 1995 and yes, I was overweight. But I took the Glucosamine Chondrin in a daily powder for a few years and still take tabs, and still no sign of needing the operation the doctor said I would need in a few years after I was diagnosed.

I love the color purple and lavender and orchid, etc.

And butter flies and cats and all that is good.
