  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A) It is a fact that evolution occurs, even creationists accept it, although they have to pretend it's only "variation". If you are referring to the Theory of Evolution I suggest using the correct terminology.

Then you are saying because of virus evolution that the full scheme of what we know as evolution is a fact, or did you just make a claim that means nothing at all when it comes to you evolving from a monkey/ape whatever you claim? I think the latter. Sounds to me like you are actually pretending virus evolution is all that is involved in this thread, otherwise it was silly to even bring it up.

B) You, Inquiring Mind and your ilk can think what you like.

At least we don't make giant leaps with so-called evidence that, once again, clearly means nothing. And thanks, I will.

Regarding the physical mechanism, the fixation of mutations and alteration of DNA over successive generations, this is all evolution is. It is of course observed fact. So the question then simply becomes, how long has this process been going on? And what evidence is there for this processes occurance over longer periods of time?

Yes, you are ignorant. About evolution for one. And also about how science is done.

What exactly does that mean.. that I don't know anything at all about your proposed evolution, when you know that isn't true? or is it I don't know everything, something that I would guess is true with all of you, rendering the comment more of the same meaningless nonsense and another absolute untruth added for good measure. Actually, you need to explain how I am not correct about what you just said. It's fast becoming a waste of time to take anything you say seriously....again.

I can't even count the amount of times it was explained to you that scientific theories are never proven, only supported by evidence.

So we're bouncing back to it being theory again, and not fact, the only thing I have ever argued with? I think you are a bit confused with my stance here. As I've said several times, as long as you guys think it's theory and tout is as that, it's merely entertaining to me and won't get too much of a serious response, but call it fact, and you will. Try to keep up please and get together with your colleagues and decide which it is, and what exactly you are arguing before you speak..theory, or fact?

Yet here you are, continuing to repeat the same falsehoods that have been corrected a thousand times over.

LOL! yours was the falsehood when you assumed I ever once said you should be able to prove "theory". Just the type twist I expect and what is often used to build the made up case for evolution.

Why do you insist on getting this so wrong?

You have never given me anything viable enough to get wrong or right...never.

We have corrected your mistakes a thousand times over.

What mistakes? You mean mistakes like me expecting me you to prove a theory, something that you claim, but I never did?

You, sir are batting zero.

The only "bad habit" here, is you insisting on being wrong about how science is done.

Another non proven statement, details please?
"your" science is done by bouncing around and making clearly untrue, unproven accusations, and claims in order to back your evolution, it's what some of you do, twists turns and deception and no details as proof when making your accusations toward others. All talk... speaks for itself.

Yes, I am absolutely certaint that you are scientifically illiterate. The continued nonsense demand for "proof" of scientific theories, proves that. That theories in science are never proven is like the basics of the basics of the basics.

There you go again, I'm asking proof from those who claim evolution is a fact, so please stop with your deceptive little twists of the truth, as you have already ruined your case with me. So let me ask you, is evolution a fact or not? Again...keep up.

Anyone who insists that it is not the case, is scientifically illiterate by definition.

So now you understand why you are and always have been 100% wrong about the illiteracy you have accused me of, because you have said I "insist" something that I have not. However I do understand that's the type claims it takes for you to make a bogus case... bogus claims. :)

As many times as it takes, until you succeed in being intellectually honest.

?

That made no sense whatsoever to what you were answering. did I you how many time you were going to do anything?

I have little hope, though.

;)

See, that's the source of the confusion. When you talk about "evolution" we are never sure whether you are talking about the fact that life has changed and diversified since it began or the theory which purports to explain how that happened.

And this is where understanding and proper use of terminology would make this clear, but we've yet to get to that point. :sigh:

Evolution is a theory. Theories are never proven

That was pulled from the last post I replied to..I thought it deserved a separate reply/honorable mention. :)

Please listen carefully here, Dogma, because I'm going to prove to you, even what you said repeatedly/based that whole post on, is wrong, making your already completely wrong accusation even more bizarre as well as prove you are just making things up...again.

"Theories are never proven"

Oh?

I didn't know with 100% certainty silk would burn with an average propane blow torch/under same conditions I've seen other things burn, but I had a theory it would because I have seen cotton burn, a similar material, and both used for clothing.. I tried it, it did, theory proven.

Your claim is just as false as those that claim science proves nothing. I have proven both there..theories can not only be proven, but it's the most natural thing in the world to do in order to learn the "FACTS" about just about anything before going forward with what ever plan for a material/whatever in manufacturing, or just out of the want to know. I know because "science just proved it".

I'm always talking about what we all know as evolution...simple, said it more than once. I honestly don't think there is a bit of confusion....we all know what mainstream evolution is....sheesh.

That's just an observation, a fact. Silk burns. What's your theory? What's your explanation for why it happened?

It's the same with evolution. Evolution is the observation that life has changed and diversified since it began. It's a fact. But how did that happen? The theory of evolution asserts that it happened through random variation and natural selection. That's the theory.

Mainstream evolution involves a whole lot more than that....you should know better. For instance, because a virus evolved, does that mean pretty much anything and everything did as it's often touted to have? Non of us are an evolved virus, lol, so, as I've said repeatedly, that in itself, means nothing.

I wanted to comment on what would follow that statement of mine but decided to wait for all the..um, fun replies...didn't wan to scare any of you off from trying to put holes in it. :).

I already said what the theory was, and it's self explanatory.

Viruses aren't alive, so that's not an ideal example.

That said, all living biological organisms have DNA, reproduce, and undergo changes in the gene pool over time. This is common to all living things.

If you want to argue otherwise (i.e. that there are living things that don't evolve) then you'll have to identify them. But I'm not aware of any living thing where that is the case.

Evolution happens. As you seem to be aware. So the question is, how long has it been occurring? We both agree that biologically, life changes and evolves. So to what extent?

Why don't you explain the theory of evolution all the same? You have an opportunity to clear the air here and provide your understanding of what the theory of evolution is.

No, all you've told us is about your observation that silk burns under certain conditions. That's an observation, a fact, not a theory. What's your theory about why silk burns under those conditions?

Going back to evolution: That life has changed and diversified since it began is an observation, a fact. If you don't like the theory of evolution, which asserts that this change and diversification came about through variation and natural selection, what's your theory which explains the fact of evolution?

Sorry man, you just don't want to see.. it's so simple, it's easy to see I could back and forth with you all day and you would still refuse to see it. you already see something that isn't there and i don't think you did that on purpose...you are just so bound and determined to see me wrong, your missing things I said from the get go.

But I'll give you this one. Read what exactly I said was the theory and why, as I never claimed the observation of of the "silk" burning was the theory, but that I had a theory it would burn because of past observation of similar things.

I included exactly that in the original post..this is so interesting, i mean how people subconsciously block things out when they choose not to see. I expected that but not to this extreme.. from you anyway.

No offense intended, again, it's just interesting.

Are you now asking me to give theory based on evolution being based on no more than natural selection?

My theory is...what you are describing is NOT the mainstream fact of evolution, and I'm surprised you are even trying to get that one past me.

Silk doesn't burn simply because you've seen other things burn. That is NOT the theory of why silk burns.

Oh, we talk about gravity as a phenomenon and gravity as a theory without causing to much confusion . . . why can't we do that with evolution?
