Sadly, even for Christians he's a good example as to how NOT to bring people to be saved by Jesus.
And whose example have you been following?

Not that of internet theologians, that's for sure.
And yet you're an atheist; therefore, I have no choice but to take your point with a grano de arena.

AV, have you ever though that maybe the Bible shouldn't be taken so literal? Maybe there is a little something to all the science?

Is God creating the universe in six days an example of quoting the Bible out of context?

Kent Hovind, is that you? I had no idea they allowed internet access in Federal prison. When are you going to make your next "creation science" video. Your son Erik is ok for a few laughs, but your videos were pure comedic gold.

Many have died because of their belief in It, and I'm not willing to join the ranks of those who care to treat It like It's a piece of vulgar literature.
Maybe there is a little something to all the science?
Those that know me here, know that I accept 95% of the conclusions that scientists make -- even over what my own pastor preaches.

For example, my pastor is a YEC and preaches that the earth is only 6000 years old.

I disagree, going with the conclusions of scientists that the earth is 4.57 billion years old.

I wouldn't say there is a 'little something' to all of science, I would say there is 95% of something to all of science.

That's 4.567 Billion years to be exact ;)

But I'm confused. You believe that humans have been around for 4.567 Billion years? After all, you believe the universe was created in 6 days and everything in the bible is true:confused:

No.

I believe that when God created the earth, He created it with age embedded in it; a sort of 'maturity without history'.

Adam is a perfect example.

When he came on the scene, he was 20 or 30 years old; but not because he grew old, but because the age was embedded into him.

Thus the earth, while coming into existence in a moment of time, came into existence 4.567 billion years old, but has only gone around the sun some 6015 times.

I put it this way:

The earth is 4.567 billion years old physically, and 6015 years old existentially.

P.S. And fix your profile, it's The Universe in a Nutshell. ;)

Of course, AV defines "age" as "the number of times something has gone around the sun", which means that since Adam hadn't gone around the sun that many times, he couldn't have had age embedded into him, but that's a whole nother thread, isn't it?

Ah, AV I love your word games.

^_^ -- just wow.

Where do I even begin correcting this?

Embedded age is 'maturity without history', therefore Adam had '30 trips around the sun' without making those 'trips around the sun'.

Since actually making those trips would have generated a history, and no history was meant to be generated, then Adam had the equivalent of those trips w/o making them.

127 to 29 as of today (for "believing" evolution, which really doesn't require belief, but acceptance). Interesting results for a Christian forum...
I wonder how many of them who voted are ... taught to believe they are Homo sapiens?

In other words, he had something without having it.

So you think God can do the logically impossible?

Embedded age is nonsense.

Oh, and you can begin to correct this by answering the questions I asked you over HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE. It shouldn't be too hard, I'm just asking you to define "age" in the context of your "embedded age".

One would think that when I ask someone a question seven times and they do not provide an answer, that they have no answer to give.

I think it shows that most Christians are starting to wake up to the facts. They can no longer deny the science. This is the first step towards breaking the stranglehold that religion has on America. The 29 people who said NO are probably the Evangelical minority that prefers to believe that dinosaurs were used by humans as horses -->see Creationist Museum.

Fundamentalist Christians are trying to spread like an itchy wet blanket all over America, but the day will come when they will have to retreat and abandon their beliefs, or crawl under a rock.

Note that this is not an indictment on most Christians in America. Many of them are opening their minds to the idea of evolution, and the wonders of the universe. We all have to take baby steps, and some need more time than others to get comfortable to new ideas.
