There are no chosen realities. There is one reality. You can choose to accept, or ignore it.
Circular logic (again).
Pascal's wager, which happens to be one of the worst, if not the worst, theological argument. At best, it's argument as to why I should believe in god. It is not, however, an argument for the existance of a god, let alone any particular god.
If I'm right, you'd never know. Neither would I, for that matter.
I'd say you were right. Nothing more, nothing less.
Again, if it is necessary for a god to exist, why is the christian god more likely than any other?
We can run in circles forever. You don't bother me. Nothing really matters to me. I'll list reasons and you can say, why is the christian god more likely than others. And I'll tell you then you can say it again. It will be a fun game.
I'll give another reason. Religion and faith is derived from poetic tales. I'll give
William Blakes' answer.
The Voice of one crying in the Wilderness
The Argument. As the true method of knowledge is experiment, the true faculty of knowing must be the faculty which experiences. This faculty I treat of.
Principle I. That the Poetic Genius is the true Man, and that the body or outward form of Man is derived from the Poetic Genius. Likewise that the forms of all things are derived from their Genius, which by the Ancients was call'd an Angel & Spirit & Demon.
Principle II. As all men are alike in outward form, So (and with the same infinite variety) all are alike in the Poetic Genius.
Principle III. No man can think, write or speak from his heart, but he must intend truth. thus all sects of Philosophy are from the Poetic Genius adapted to the weaknesses of every individual.
Principle IV. As none by travelling over known lands can find out the unknown, So from already acquired knowledge Man could not acquire more; therefore an universal Poetic genius exists.
Principle V. The Religions of all Nations are derived from each Nation's different reception of the Poetic Genius, which is every where call'd the Spirit of Prophecy.
Principle VI. The Jewish & Christian Testaments are An original derivation from the Poetic Genius. This is necessary from the confined nature of bodily sensation.
Principle VII. As all men are alike (tho' infinitely various), So all Religions , &, as all similars, have one source.
The true Man is the source, he being the Poetic Genius.
Jesus Christ is called the Spirit of Prophecy. Jesus Christ is the True man, he being the poetic genius. When you read a bible, you are looking for scientific evidence. But in reality, science is not beautiful. Art is beautiful, especially poetry. Poetry becomes a sacred artform since it is poetry that empowers scripture. Trust me, no one on the 'otherside' wants a cold-hearted scientist to be God. Science cannot adapt such things as love into it's matrix of thought; but in poetry, love is already adapted because it is what sparks the divine nature of the poetic genius.
And the universal poetic genius is Jesus Christ. Look at what he has established from a poetic tale of love and suffering, a dominion upon earth. From him is derived lordship, perfect love, the heavens, the earth, etc. saying that all things were made by him and for him, eventually this account will be proven true as Jesus' dominion spreads not from the earth but to the stars and beyond.
Truth will never be sufficient to existence unless it portrays beauty. Beauty is derivative from the poetic genius
not the scientific genius. God is Love and Love is in Love with beauty, not cold-hard facts. You live your lives by imperical evidence. I, on the otherhand, know the truth--that eternity is in love with the productions of time--that being considerate to all that is beautiful.
Science has no room for beauty. Beauty has no part of it. Therefore, truth as it may be; but it will never be nothing more than facts and numbers. Art, is sacred to the human form, where science expresses cold-hard facts, art expresses the soul; which is not even considerate to cold hard facts. Science is closed minded but art or sacred art, portrays a portion of the infinite in which science cannot even hold a candle too. And I can go on and on.
Now it is your turn to say, why the christian god? this is fun. because i can just pour out my soul and babble on and on.
why the christian god? well, because unlike other religions, the spirit of prophecy found in the christian texts reaches for our place outside of eternity.
