• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Even a lot of Catholics were willing to change their faith and accept evolution as another one of "God's miracles". They know the deal about when parts of their religion get blown out of the water by science.
The Catholics know this feeling all too well:thumbsup:

That is because they have been around for centuries and time mellows the hard heart! Creationists on the other hand are new to the game and are untamed as yet. Give it time and they shall surely see the light of the big bang!

I doubt they'll see the error of their ways anytime soon. The unprecedented inflated pride that comes with creationism would never allow that to happen, in my opinion.

I don't see howa YEC (Young Earth Creationist) can accept evolution in The Origin of Species sense since for that to work there has ot be a lot more than 6000 yearf of existance.

And YECs are what people generally mean when they say Creationist.

For YECs to accept a evolution and a lot of science they would have ot deny the very defintion of the term.

The universe is actually an isolated system, meaning energy and matter do not enter or exit. this corresponds with the 2nd law, which states that work will decrease (as in entropy will increase) over time.

Our universe is isolated from what? Isolated from other universes?

Is it? What's your evidence?

Isolated system - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermodynamic_system
http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Second_law_of_thermodynamics
http://www.allaboutscience.org/second-law-of-thermodynamics.htm

a closed thermodynamic system has boundaries through which energy can and is exchanged. it's assumed that there aren't boundaries in the universe as the universe contains all there is. there isn't evidence that the universe exchanges energy with a source outside of it.

but it isn't known, the only possible isolated system can be the universe. if there are other universes and it becomes apparent that matter and energy is exchanged between ours and others, then our universe is an open thermodynamic system. more likely than not, we would just conclude that it is another part of the universe. however, if only energy is exchanged, it is said to be closed.

isolated just means it doesn't interact with anything that would decrease the entropy (as in, increase the amount of work the universe can do). this doesn't necessarily mean that it is isolated from something else. for all we know, this universe could be all there is, or this universe could be one of many. as i said, this implies that neither matter, nor energy are exchanged. it's not apparent that energy or matter is exchanged between our universe and an outside source. it's entirely possible that our universe is a closed system, or even an open one, but it isn't a default standpoint.

Posting a single sentence link isn't really helping your case. It feels a bit like some bizzaro version of a Turing test where I can't decide whether I'm talking to a computer program or a human being deliberately obtuse. ::confused:
After reading his FB page I realised that this kid has some serious issues. I now feel very sorry for him! :(

I can imagine how that would go. "Hello, ma'am. I'm from the Internet. May I speak with your son?"

I think this seventh season is continuing to prove devolution.
I disagree. Looking back at previous seasons, it seems to be evolving to meet the need of the audience.

Well it might go.
Mom:How did you get our number?
You: Your son posted it on the internet.
Mom: Thanks, we'll be taking care of that. click.

Few days later: I'm sorry this number has been disconnected.
