I happen to believe in evolution. My point is that this does not make me any less of a Christian than a creationist. I can accept Genesis as allegory while still believing in the truth of God's Word and the salvation of Jesus Christ.

I'm not suggesting that we stifle the debate. I am suggesting that believing in evolution and being a true Christian are entirely compatible.

Bravo! Yes, the theory of evolution does not refute Christianity.

What creationists cannot seem to get a handle on is that if God is real he created the Earth too. And the Earth, both present day and in the fossil record, tells us that we are the product of evolution. By sticking to a literal Genesis they are in effect calling God a liar.

I always thought that it was the height of blasphemy for creationists to tell God how he had to make the Earth.

Is Hovind out of prison yet?

The thing I love about Hovind is that he never lets scholarship or things like research get in the way of his rhetoric. But people who can't earn advanced degrees and call themselves "Doctor" with honorary degrees often have the same challenges.

I teach a teen Sunday school class on logic and fallacy and Hovind, Ham, and Ray Comfort all make the hit-parade as examples of rhetorical tricks and fallacious reasoning.

Between Kent Hovind, Jim Bakker, and Peter Popoff I don't think the US economy can stand more grift! God is great, but he doesn't seem to pay these guys enough money so they have to defraud others, cheat others or steal from others to get it! Sheesh!

Really? IN this case Kent Hovind used his "ministry" around these very topics to defraud the rest of the US taxbase. So I'd say it really does relate.

He clearly felt it was OK to lie and cheat in the name of the God he says created all this wonderfulness, so why would I believe a word he says about God creating all this wonderfulness?

Look, Kent Hovind doesn't have any training in this area and he has a BIG incentive to peddle this stuff. I'm sure he believes it to some extent, but clearly he doesn't really believe that God is all powerful or he'd follow the rules of the Bible he claims to teach from: Render unto Caeser what is Caesar's.

If Kent Hovind actually believed in God as being all powerful don'tcha think he'd find a way to work on His message without breaking tax laws and thereby stealing from me and everyone else in the country???

OR is that what he thinks God would APPROVE of? ANd if that's his God I'm willing to question which way his prayers are aimed.

What Ad homs? You don't seem to understand the concept. Kent was proven to be wrong countless times over. Now we are merely having fun at an obnoxious pest's expense.

I know for sure that's what I'M doing! I've seen so many debunks of most Creationist "science" that after a while it gets boring having to educate people who couldn't bother to listen the first couple million times it was debunked!

And besides, I really find it unappealing that many of the Heroes of God's Word these days find it so difficult to NOT defraud and steal from others. But like I said, apparently God doesn't pay that well and these honest men of the Holy Word are left with little other choice (because God forbid they get ACTUAL jobs like the rest of us schmucks).

Yes, yes we are. And none of us are deserving of Salvation. The only thing one must do to get God's Grace is to confess their faith and love for Him.

I'd say stealing in His Name is not that.

Nope. But that was because he was wrong on the science. After it turned out he was not only wrong on the science but appeared to mock the God in whose name he was speaking, well, it just kinda all fit together.
