  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

No, It's why I prefer to believe things that are true.
Modern scholarship kinda gives you the impression you were there, doesn't it?

From Adam Clarke's Commentary:

Acts 5:37 After this man rose up Judas of Galilee in the days of the taxing, and drew away much people after him: he also perished; and all, even as many as obeyed him, were dispersed.
More importantly how many censuses require people to return to the birthplace not of themselves, but to an ancestor 1000 years ago! Absurd, anybody on this board able to do that?

Yep, the whole return to your birthplace canard was a complete ruse to get Jesus to Bethlehem for his birth narrative.

And having done so, everyone else from Herod to Pilate, who had no part in this "conspiracy," fulfilled the prophecies that Jesus couldn't have possibly have fulfilled as a conspirator?

Who told the Wise Men to go to Jerusalem?
Who told Herod to kill the infants?
Who told Judas to covenate for thirty pieces of silver, then kill himself?
Who told Peter to deny Jesus three times?
Who told the Roman soldier to pierce Jesus' side?

Everything written after the fact or completely fabricated.
Sounds like someone is invoking the No True Scotsman fallacy to defend his point.

Here is a list of 353 prophecies forfilled by Jesus.
As has, been pointed out these retrospective, or just made up, the gospel writers deliberately tried to make jesus fit

The gospel writers? Retrospective prophecy fulfillment, making it up, and in the case of herod killing the infants, plagiarised from thevold testement story of moses.

More importantly, who wrote these "prophecies" down, and when?

BTW, no independent corroborative source of an infanticide ever happening during that time.

All you need do is provide some contemporary source corroborating your claim, otherwise you're making and unsupportable assertion.

They worked hard to get themselves martyred, didn't they?

Martyrs.

That would be like someone in China calling Genghis Khan a "tyrant," wouldn't it?

There are some things you just don't do.

What evidence have I ignored? All I have seen is your claims and no evidence.

It doesn't. If there is evidence for God in the process then God will be included.

Evidence please.

Again, these are empty assertions. Where is the evidence?
Now your just denying

No evidence, indeed much of biblical scolarship seems to think that the gospel authors were well educated greek speakers who never witnessed the events they wrote about. The names given to them are assigned later, to give credence.

Tut tut.. you choose to believe what you have been told in so much as it matches the way you want things to be.
but doing so will not excuse you from being accountable to God.
