CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Actually since the 1920's... It wasnt until after the GC Bible Conference of 1919's deliberations were buried somewhere they would not see the light of day for 60+ years that the overzealous wing of the church that were hell bent on making EGW the posthumous pope of Adventism, speaking infallibly ex cathedra, ex sepulchra became ascendant in the church and in the time between 1920 and 1980 they remade the church in their own image, after their own likeness, bringing in the very legalism that the 1888 message of righteousness by faith sought to prevent from becoming entrenched.Good point Senti.
The way I see it, this 'we have the truth, all of the truth and nothing but the truth' mindset will never be fully eradicated from Adventism. There will always be those who think we have 'arrived' and that's the end of the matter. High-profile leaders such as Doug Batchelor will only re-inforce and preserve this stubborn mindset in cement with such books as Advindication and seminars such as Here We Stand.
More and more I have decided the best thing is to just go on with our own personal spiritual journeys, where a dynamic, ever-changing, ever-progressing faith is embraced, free from the constraints of those who would bottle and seal SDA doctrine, keeping it preserved in formaldehyde since the 1800's.
