I am so blessed to have found this website and information.

I don't know much about this fellow but it seems like running as far and as fast as you can get away is not a bad idea.

I too have seen the many inconsistencies in Steve's teachings and couldn't quite put my finger on why my spirit was so disturbed when listening to this guy till all these things began to come to light. Program #314 clearly reflects the thinking of a narcissistic personality and most cult type leaders who have a set of values and chooses selective (taken out of context) scriptures to justify what they have chosen to do. Unfortunately, words are twisted to make listeners feel if they do not agree/accept this warped view, they are idolators. Keep your eyes and ears on Abba, Father. There are many voices out there, but I believe the words of Yeshua, "My sheep will know my voice".

Hi all,

We were long time supporters of Tsiyon until this came out. We are so sad by the response from Dawn and Steve which is basically no response. We tried to post alternative views and our opinion on their site but they took off the posts. If a person doesn't allow true discussion about the Word and seek finding truth, then they can't be making the choice He would want. It is sad but we must judge the behavior and find it terribly lacking....not Yeshua's Way but man's way.

And that those sheep will be a bit more discerning this time around; for unfortunately, they come out of this clearly sheared - a good "mark" for the next opportunist out there.
They need our prayers and not judgment. :groupray:

Yeah, it's sad. People can be taken in and be very hurt by this.
In our local area there was a Messianic "rabbi" who claimed he was
Jewish. A national Christian organization gave him quite a bit of money
to set up a congregation and to support him. Not only was he not Jewish,
he wasn't a rabbi of course. But he was a con man and a goniff and a lot
of people not only lost their money but had their faith severely shaken.

That's why I've been so hot about deception, dishonesty and misrepresentation. Some here in CF throw that in my face, not sure why, but it's very important for one to be 100% what they represent. It's only right. Too many people do get hurt, in more ways than one - they could end up alone on a non-existent island for fear of being burned again.
And right now, Messianic Judaism is bearing fruit and ripe for the picking - and oh boy! are the harvesters out there in droves!

:thumbsup:Agreed! I am glad to hear that honesty and accountability have been an ongoing concern!! Be encouraged as you take a stand!
I am also concerned about those who end up in isolation because they have been burned once too often. In the past 12 years I have seen it happen too much. Yet we also know that we have been told that there would be such difficulties, false Messiah's, people's love growing cold, unwillingness to hear sound teachings... Yeshua help us all! We do need to hear and know His voice!

Restless, bedraggled sheep looking for the True shepherds...not to mention the shepherds who have been pressed into service in obedience and found themselves under every kind of personal and spiritual attack as well. (Yes, I do believe that happens, and it isn't always that the person "under attack" has done anything wrong at all!) I suppose any more on that line would take us off topic.

I like that icon...:groupray: Yes, praying for us all to find those our Abba wants us to walk with, and to keep us away from the pitfalls in all that is to come until Messiah returns!

Why are so many people taken in so easily? Because if anyone comes up and says, "I'm a "whatever title", and I'm here to teach you", most say 'great' and lap it up. Very few ask or look into the person's past, credentials, etc. Even fewer have discernment to tell when a teaching is not biblical, even though they quote scripture.

I have an innate distrust of anyone who builds or wants to build a large congregation or mega-ministry. Why? I remember someone just recently listing some of the duties of a minister. Part of the job is getting to know the congregation, and to minister to them all.

How many pastors, ministers, etc, do you think have gone to meet EVERY person of their congregation at their house and/or invited them home for lunch or dinner or just to fellowship? How many are personally training a person or small group for leadership positions? Why did Yeshua only have 12 disciples?

Exactly.
Psa 118:8 It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man.
Psa 118:9 It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in princes.
Otherwise, disappointment will surely come.

That in and of itself should raise the red flags. Then there is the rest of all of it. Surely good, teaching can be found elsewhere. Would God have us compromise? Open the ears to hear but close the eyes so you don't see that which is faulty? I don't think so.
Red flags? More like flashing lights and a pulsating klaxon blaring.

I don't see that he's trying to hide his past, he just admitted his past.
Just recently, now that people are starting to investigate who he is.

He did say he is a Jew, but if you listen to his programs, you'll hear his explanation as to how he got the name "Eliyahu ben David"
Sorry, call me a skeptic, but I don't believe the Almighty has been in
touch with him regarding his name. Also, a change in name does not
make one a Jew.

As for me, Eliyahu is almost always presenting new information that gives me a much deeper understanding of things than I had before.
I'm glad you are getting benefit from it.

If YHWH gave you a new name, and you went by it..especially in your ministry, how would you deal with those who seemed obsessed with knowing all about your previous relationships and your birth name and the names of those you were in relationships with ? Or what if you were divorced and YHWH still in His mercy found some use for you to minister to others and those others were obsessed with wanting to know who your ex was, what her name was and why you were divorced and what all the juicy details were in the problems in your relationship...how would you deal with it ?

So, his first two wives left him. That's all we know about it. You mentioned "the failure of his personal attempt at having a polygamist family". What information do you have to prove that Steven Butt aka Eliyahu ben David, "failed" ? What a thing to say ! So if your wife leaves you for whatever reasons, does that automatically mean that YOU failed ? It's always the guys fault right ? Maybe they are the ones that failed. Realistically, it is usually both partners who fall short of making a happy marriage, even in a monogomistic marriage. There sure are a lot of assumptions going on here.

A large part of that is part and parcel of being a "shepherd." Like it or get out. Those he is teaching have a right to know whether he's a doer of his own demands or a "do as I say, not as I do" sort of dude.
