I guess there were concerns relating to physical abuse and neglect on the part of himself and his wife Dawn. He is currently only married to Dawn."

The records in PeopleFinders.com indicate that although Diane R. Butt and Merry Ann Morningstar did move to Reedsport, Oregon, Steven J. Butt and Dawn (Dawn Marie Hyatt) have never resided west of Utah. Do you have a published source confirming this rumor or that otherwise indicates that he and/or Dawn were investigated for concerns of physical abuse or child neglect?

I can personally confirm that the whole family moved to Reedsport, OR. Not just Diane and Morningstar.

Post #50 in this thread has a link to a news article from the Portland (Maine) Press from 1993. He was convicted of child abduction, although this was before he met Dawn and right after he met and "married" his second wife.

Looks like Diane (his first wife) decided to get back with him even after all this happened. In the "48 hours" clip, she did say she couldn't accept it at first, but decided to stay with him.

Nothing I can find shows any record of physical abuse or child neglect on the part of Steven.

This guy has radio shows broadcasting on various Christian stations across the nation. Wonder if they know about (or care about) his background?

If you search for Dawn M Hyatt on this site, You'll see Reedsport Oregon listed as a former residency of hers, along with College Station Texas and Circleville Utah. They only lived in Oregon for a short while (maybe a few months), so records will naturally be scarce.

FYI: I used Utah for the location information, and included no city name.

As for the CPS call: I have no published sources at this time. Someone (who wishes to remain anonymous) close to the situation let me know.

This article appears to have been written by Israel C. S. Lim, and the website also appears to be owned by him. On what basis did you conclude it was written by Steven J. Butt and that this is his website?
It was the link to that where I got the quote from.. I misunderstood the Steven J. Butt's statement and this webpage were the same thing.

I truly appreciate the information relivantdata has shared from his knowledge on the subject of this thread at this forum. I had googled and searched many avenues trying to allay my discomfort with this teacher. I did not find it until I happened upon this forum. You have provided a great service to your fellow man.

I would also like to add my personal thanks to RelevantData for bringing forth this information on this forum that I believe was the catalyst to Eliyahu finally revealing his true nature in Program #314. In this program, he clearly states his belief and acceptance of polygamy, even going as far as to call Yahweh, "a polygamist Yahweh". He does this all based on one verse out of the entire Bible (Ezekiel 23:4), which I personally believe to be a very poor interpretation of Scripture and unfounded. Polygamy is a subject that can be debated on both sides and there is no where in Scripture that clearly "commands" it one way or the other. For this man to make such a blatant statement about Yahweh, even calling polygamy a “Torah command”, is very concerning.

With regards to Eliyahu’s true nature, this program shows now that he has not changed or forsaken his prior work and teaching on polygamy. Yes, I agree he is now in a monogamist relationship, but one that resulted from the failure of his personal attempt at having a polygamist family. For this man to be so adamant about polygamy being of Yahweh, I would like for him to show evidence (even one case) of a polygamist relationship that worked or was successful, either in Scripture or in Eliyahu’s life. Or should I say Steve Butt’s life. By the way, I found it interesting that Eliyahu did not disclose his real name as Steve Butt in the program, even though he mentioned that he previously had plural wives and was on national TV. Is he still trying to hide this fact?

To me, this recent program is simple evidence that we need to be very wary of this man’s teaching.

Just listened to the Program #314. This guy is just another false teacher who says that he has it all right and everyone else is wrong.

Folks, people like that aren't trying to follow the spirit. They're merely making scripture fit their lifestyle.

At least he "came out of the closet". I think he started feeling the pressure and people started questioning his credibility. Hopefully he lost some "followers".

And that those sheep will be a bit more discerning this time around; for unfortunately, they come out of this clearly sheared - a good "mark" for the next opportunist out there.
They need our prayers and not judgment. :groupray:

Shalom all;

I agree with all comments that we are very glad that the truth of "Eliyahu/Steve's" belief about polygamy is on the proverbial table. People will know more fully what they are supporting if they support Tsiyon Ministries. He said they welcome this separating out of those who do not agree. I agree that separation is good.

There are now two issues on that table.
1) The status of polygamy. Too big to settle here.
2) Eliyahu/Steve Butt's status

1) A complex subject, but our community understands this interpretation of YHWH as a polygamous God to fall short of fulfilling Torah.

Yes, we agree that there are many who believe polygamy to be within the bounds of Torah because many patriarchs practiced it and there is no evidence of YHWH's condemnation.

However, the first person recorded to practice plural marriage was Lamech, the great grand son of Cain, not within the line of promise.

All the plural marriages recorded have varying degrees of difficulty, consequences of the choice, despite also having evidence of blessings.
However, it is also evident that one Patriarch, Isaac, who is an especially relevant picture of Messiah, did not practice polygamy.

Torah and the prophets and the writings include models of both righteous and unrighteous behavior. Ours is not to condemn but to discern.

2) Regardless of whether polygamy is "Torah approved" or not, there is an underlying issue. E/Steve's disclosure came only under duress. I read Holy Order Restored and did not see direct admission of polygamous belief as he indicated was there. Did I miss it?

It seems unreasonable to me that knowledge of this belief and background was not available to those on staff or to us as another ministry that he wanted to work with.

Nor did he acknowledge his legal name in the program, while putting the issue in a manner that implies it is irrelevant.

Remaining grateful that is not mine to judge.

The LORD [will be] awesome to them, For He will reduce to nothing all the gods of the earth; [People] shall worship Him, Each one from his place, Indeed all the shores of the nations.

As a long time listener of this ministry. This has been a very difficult decision for me to decide what to do. Should I stay or leave the ministry? I see so much inconsistency with Eliyahu and what he teaches now, that goes against what he taught earlier among other inconsistencies that I have seen with his lifestyle that don't match up to his teachings. I still hold on to many of his earlier teachings that is based on Truth. However, I feel the need to even re-examinine some of those earlier teachings too (just to be sure). I am not impressed with his latest programs from Nov 2011 to the present. A man who cannot humble himself, when he is wrong about something as serious as this, and be honest with who he is, and or he won't be accountable to anyone except for YHWH, cannot be the one to lead the remnant back to the land. or what we call the (white horse rider) Correct me if I am wrong but even biblical leaders from the past from what I have understood had a council meeting with the other Godly leaders if there was a question at hand. We are all humans subject to sin and need the council of other Godly leaders to keeps us in check. Am I right? Yet, Eliyahu doesn't seem to thinks so, from what I am learning. However, even before this all came out, I have seen too many red flags and yet I have tried to move forward with Tsiyon Ministry b/c I have thought Eliyahu was the white horse rider & I was hoping he would come clean or repent from the red flags that I have seen. I can no longer ignore the red flags and continue to support Eliyahu's ministry in good conscious. it appears to me that the lamp stand has been removed from Eliyahu's ministry. This has been a very difficult for me to even have to come to this place. But I am no longer seeing the fruit.
