Who's post are you refering to about Jesus teacing from a mountain? He came to fulfill the prophets and the law by bringing the new law on our hearts. It is the fulfillment of God's original purpose, to have a loving relationship with humans.

You cannot show me one place in the New testament to say that we are not under the food laws. God cannot change. Are you really serious in saying that from say the birth of Christ that pigs are now clean. How can God change things from unclean to clean? He never did and never will.
That isn't exactly true.joshua_cheung said:Matthew 5:17 is the teachings of Jesus to the Jews.
It is not a new law. Jesus just told them what the main part of the law was. The main part of God's law was Love. Not only behaviour.
Jesus kept the law perfectly..he fuflfilled it completely..he did not break the sabbath, the pharisees accused him, but He told them that he is even Lord of the sabbath..what he did break is thier hard man made rules concering the sabbath..again Jesus who is god also wrote the ten comandments..he could not and did not break is own law..he fulfilled it for us...if we are in him we are righteoues by him. of course the law can easily be summed up by loving god and loving neighbor.servant4ever said:I think the Old Testament Laws in itself (Mosaic Law, dietary laws, etc.) are invalid for Christians today. Jesus even broke the Sabbath (Luke 13:10-17 for instance). Jesus came to break the law and to bring grace and love to the world. We need to live in grace and love. For we know Ephesians 2:8-9, it is NOT BY WORKS we are saved, it is by grace. Then if we are not saved by the law, then why do we have to follow it? The only commands Jesus gives are based around love, love God and neighbors. Murdering is not loving neighbors. Stealing is not loving neighbors. Jesus repeats these. Jesus cares more about the heart, which the new law is written on (Jeremiah 31:33). If anyone is interested, I have a paper about this, just send me a PM and I will figure out a way to send it to you.

servant4ever said:Hello Joshua,
Do you think that the new law was the most important aspects of the Ten Commandments? It was a new law because Jesus brought new aspects into it. For example, He says if a man is angry at his brother, he already commits murder. Also if a man looks at a woman to lust after her, he already commits adultery.

Yes, it is a new aspect but it is an old law. It was just a new understanding that the Jews did not understand.
No. Angry is not a sin. I am angry if my son doesn't listen to me. This is not a sin. However if angry without self-control can lead to murder.
Yes, if a man looks at a woman to lust after her, he already commits adultery.
How about if I am attractive to her beauty or her body shape? I don't think it is a sin. However I should be sef-control. Remember, we are human beings. We like to see and love beautiful women. However we should avoid our mind or heart that we have her or have sex with her because she does not belong to us (Compare to the Ten commandments).
Different understanding lead to different conclusion. Right.

John 13:34, A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
A new commandment does mean new, not old, does it not?
Hello Servant4ever, where does it say, theres a new law?servant4ever said:Joshua_Cheung,

Jesus bought Love and Grace to all, but he didn't bring a new law that would override the old. He bought himself as a fulfilment of the old law, so that salvation would come to us.servant4ever said:Joshua,
Jesus says in Matthew 5:22, which says that "I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be siubject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, 'Raca,' is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, 'You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell (NIV)." The thing is, the anger we experience is out of selfishness. We get angry because someone cut us off on the highway, so now we can't go as fast as we wish we could. We get angry because someone yelled at us, even though Jesus says that we should bless those who curse us. Jesus had the true, perfect anger. It is only recorded once where Jesus got angry, when He turned over the money tables in the temple. He did this for the right reason, sinful people were making God's house as a market.
Jesus looks past our good works. In Matthew 19, Jesus says, "If you want to enter life, obey the commandments (17b, NIV)." Then Jesus continues when the rich young man says that he kept all the commandments "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me (21, NIV)." He looks to the heart. Yes, the man kept all the commandments, except He was greedy about the money God provided him (we don't have money, God owns everything).
Jesus does not care about the Law, all He cares about is Love and Grace. "But the greatest of these is love" 1 Corinthians 13:14b states in the NIV. Love is all that matters. If a person is a Christian, they will love. It will be easy for a Christian to love since they are in God, and God is love (1 John 4:8), and God will be in them.
I hope you can understand this, I'm really tired right now, and I still have to type a Bible paper tonight!
Have a blessed evening

joshua_cheung said:This commandment here means Jesus can give up his life for them, so learn his example, they should love each other in this way.
Yes, it is a new commandment but old law. Love your neighbour (compare to old testatment). However. This is beyond love your neighbour as you love self. We love ourself but we may not give up our life to our neighbour. So we accept our neighbour not give up their life for us.

Jesus bought the new Covernant......not the old. If a new law was given by Jesus, then how consistant would Christianity be?
nephilimiyr said:Ok, thanks for your answer, I believe I can agree with that.
What do you make of these verses?
Romans 6:14-15, For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
What does it mean "we are not under the law"? How should we understand this phrase?
If we are not under the law anymore why do we have to obey it?
Obeying the law has no redeaming value if it can't save us from sin. Jesus came to do that job of redeaming us and this is why we are no longer under the law but under grace.
