Considering some songs from Dream Theater talk a lot about God in a way, do some of you consider it as a Christian band (although without comparing at all with Third Day or Sixpence None the Richer...)

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm not sure if they are Christians... but I know lot of their music is positive for sure...
You might wanna listen to our station, we play them on it... it is on here at the Christian Forum under the Radio section above to the left, click on Radio, then scroll down and look for Tri-Rock Radio... but its not just Extreme... the shows are mostly Extreme/Hardcore/Metal... the main rotations are Hard Rock/Metal from the 80's, 90's & Present...

They use themes that are obviously from the bible, and their music DOES tend to be positive, but I'm very sure that none of them are christians. For many years I frequented the www.mikeportnoy.com forums, and the question came up a few times, each time with Mike responding that he was a non-practicing jew. The other main lyricist for the band is the guitar player John Petrucci, and while I couldn't say with 100% certainty, I'm very sure that he isn't either.

their lyrics r positive, i dont think they r christians though. they r an awesome band though. A Change of Seasons is a maaad song
