You know Paladine? Fizban is one of his mortal forms. You didn't think that just ANY gold dragon, did you? ;)

EDIT:

GREAT avatar Myah, I could work up a graphic signature along the same theme is you want, it looks so lonely without a  matching sig.

I just got back on here to say Fizban! But someone else has gotten there first.
But Fizban is awesome!

He also shows up in the Death Gate Cycle by Weis and Hickman
Death Gate is not Dragonlance. But Fizban shows up.

The Elven Nations Trilogy...Disappointing. Especially if you have spoiled yourself on Tolkien's elves. If you have money burning a hole in your pocket, well get them if you want. But I recommend R.A. Salvatore's "Dark Elf Trilogy."

Heh, I was just kidding cheese ;) He has some good books out.

What is everyone's favorite plot twist/adventure/battle You know what I mean?

My favorite is probably when the elves and company fight with Beryl at end of Dragons of a Vanished Moon. It would have been when the "army" of the dead comes to the knights of Solamnia, but it just wasn't original. The whole time I was thinking Lord of the Rings... But that's probably just me.

My favorite event? Hummm....think,think,think...I'm not sure. I guess the whole "going into the abyss and sacrificing oneself for the people you love" part was really cool.. lol! ^_^ :D ;)

LOL!!! Tasselhoff was my favorite character! My horse is named after him! Tas!!! I talked with Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman a couple of times, Link sat on Tracy Hickmans' lap when he was 2! The reason some of the other books were not as good was because of the garbage some of the editors pulled on the true talents, Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman, putting thier characters up for others to write about.... one bad thing about literary contracts, you can lose your rights to your characters...
I am thrilled to hear Margaret Weiss is writing again! That is very good news!

I've just started reading the Dragonlance series... am about 1/3 of the way through "Dragons of Autumn Twilight". This is not the type of books I usually read, but a good friend recommended them so I thought I'd check them out. I am really enjoying this first one.

This will give me a new series to read while I wait for the 6th Harry Potter book. ;-)

Glad to see new faces in the thread, Cyberwing, September, you sound like you'll fit right in here :).

Cyberwing-- You've...talked...with them *choke* why? when? how? That's pretty cool.

Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman never owned rights to their characters, the books are based on the Dragonlance campaign setting designed by Hickman for the Dungeons and Dragons role playing game, owned by Wizards of the Coast.

September-- Stick with it! It only gets better from were you are :)

Anyone read Dragons of a Summer Flame? I am just about done and really like it, alot is revealed about Palin that I wish I had known for his later appearences...

Dragons of Summer Flame was cool (no pun intended!), I guess. Not one of my favs. I was really disappointed abot Usha though...I really wanted her to be his daughter. O well! ^_^
Is this the book where you first meet Gil? What do you think of him right now? I hated him....it made me mad how badly he treated Tanis.

Well, those are the only comments I can think of on my own. What eles did you find that stuck out at you most?

I don't think Gilthanas and Tanis actually interact in this book, Tanis has his *cough* run in with the Brutes at the High Clerist's Tower before that can heppen.

I kind of touched on it before, I guess the second generation would do this more but I like the lineage that plays out in this book with Palin, like I said, the only other time I have seen him was when his fingers were wrecked... I also don't *think* he had the staff of magius when he went with Tas in the War of Souls... maybe he did.

Palin is a very cool character, I like him more then Raistlin, I think.

just browsed through the thread a bit and thought id add my 2 cents. My brother has tons of the books and ive borrowed a couple of his (im a forgotten realms fan myself, and no, dont boo :p) and of the DL books i did get to read my favorite series was the Dragons of a New Age series (is that right? im not sure, its the one w/ Malystryx and Khellendros) and Khellendros was actually my favorite character. Dragons have always fascinated me and this one especially caught my attention.

At the really beginning doesn't Gil run away because of..something...its been SO long since I've read this book!

!!!!!!!DRAGONS OF SUMMER FLAME SPOILER!!!!!!!

And as to Tanis's "run in", that tick me off to no end. That is not the way he should have died! After all the heroic thing he did, he gets stabbed in the back by some half-naked barbarien!!
Okay, rant over. Just had to get that off my chest. :breaths deeply:
