Sorry about the belated reply Tier....it seems that I can never reply in a timely fashion *shake head*.
Anyway, as I said before (well kinda) I really don't care much for the art of "the old days" (i.e Larry Elmore), the paintings themselves are good but they never looked the way I though the character should and I just didn't like them much. But that doesn't mean that I don't value them for what they are.
I agree with you on the dipiction of Laurana. She looks rather....how to say this politly....easy?.... in that picture and nothing like that beautiful, proud, self-respecting, elven madien we all know and love. I have also dispised ALL the ways that they show Raistlin. It could just be that I glorify his image in my mind but the artists always seem to make him look REALLY ugly and...old, I guess could be one way to descripe it. *shrugs*
Now, on a different note, the most recent cover/artwork I have througly enjoyed. I even tried to order the most recent "Art of Dragonlance" book, but it never came in at borders for some reason. One of my most favorite artists is Matt Stawicki. His homepage can be found here: http://www.mattstawicki.com/
I'm not sure why I like him so much...his stuff is just cool, I guess.
So now you tell me what you think.

Matt Stawicki's DL work is cool, like you said, and it is epic, which is appropriate since it is on the new book covers.

Keith Parkinson, rather then being epic seems to capture one moment or feeling, the detail is exsquisite too.
