Anyone have any fav. charaters? I like Raistlin and Dalamar. Why? I'm not sure. I started writing a paper ,actually, discussing the reasons why Raistlin has such a large following of fans, I mean think about. He's the most cynical, mean spirited, spiteful charcter in the whole book, and yet we can't help but love him. Why?
Okay my head hurts now.... :help:

I love dragonlance!
I remember when I had to wait for Chronicles II and III to come out.

I think my favorite will always be Laurana.
But I like Raistlin too. I think its cause there is so much mystery surrounding him and his past. He is intriguing.

I've got the annotated Chronicles.

yeah, i like Raistlin as well, maybe mostly because he's a mage, and a sick one (health) too.

Tannis strikes me as a pretty realistic character. Unlike most other heros in fantasy books, he has his own faults and weaknesses, and that is what i like about him and the whole group. The group absolutely reeks of disaster, and the leader doesn't even act like a leader (for the secrets that only the readers know).

Raistlin’s health was one of the point I went over extensively when I was writing that paper I mentioned earlier. I think we all feel a little sorry for him. :(

Ahhh!! I couldn’t stand Tanis after I finished read the chronicles trilogy!!! He struck me as very whiny and moody!

My favorite character would be Marshal Medan and Gerard, depending on how he [Gerard] is developed in the final book of the War of Souls, but for now I'll stick with Marshal and say I hope a book devoted to him is released (It would have to be a prequel, obviously). If it is written and it is non-core (Not by Weis and Hickman) I may make an exception and read it. The only non-core Dragonlance I have read is the Raistlin chronicles.

I will need to think about reading any non-core, it is easy to get drowned in the hundreds of novels. When I finish all the core novels I will most likely take a break from Dragonlance.

EDIT: I have read:

Dragons of a Autumn Twilight
Dragons of a Winter Night
Dragons of a Spring Dawning

The Soulforge
Brothers in Arms

Time of the Twins
War of the Twins

Dragons of a Fallen Sun
Dragons of a Lost Star

I am currently reading Dragons of a Summer Flame.

NOTE: I had a good idea. To make it easier for new people to jump in the discussion, we could title our posts. This way everyone can see what we are talking about at a glance and won't have to go back and read to see what is going on.

OOO..bad Koryu!! I have forgotten about them (Marshal Medan and Gerard)! I like Gerard, he’s a pretty key character throughout the War of Souls tril. so pay attention to 'im in the last book!

As far as "non-core" dragonlance book go I read a whole bunch. I like the lost histories the best, I’ve read the Dargonesti and hope to one day read the one on the Kagonesti, but alas...lack of funds prevents me from doing this :sigh:
Dalamar the Dark was also a really good "non-core" DL book. It gave a lot of background info on a character whose past we knew little about. And plus it a whole book about elves, who could hate it? ^_^ ^_^ ^_^

Whenever I'm at the library I hit the stacks of books they are getting rid of and weed out all the Dragonlance, they are only a quarter each. I have only bought a few of my DL books this way though, as they don't trash em often. Then I gottah pay the big $7.99 at Borders ;) I never buy any hardcovers... I don't have the cash to pay 3x  softcover price.

What do you think/hope/want will/to happen in the next book for DL? I am not really in a position to speculate, since I need to read the third WOS book still...

I get most of my DL book at a used book store, they might be in semi-bad shape but there okay.

What mad me the most mad  at the end of of Dragons of a Vanished Moon was, once again, the position of the elves. They are by far my favorite race on Krynn but their arrougence and pride has just not worked for them in this series, but when has arroungence and pride worked well for anyone in the end. I really wish that they would "see the error of there ways" and bury the hatched when it come to the relations between the Silvanesti and the Qualinesti. :(

Well, my sis is bugging the heck out of me to get off the internet right now so I'll right more later!

are there more DL books being produced? i thought this series is pretty old.
The first chronicles (Dragons of Autumn Twilight) was printed in 84'.

Margaret Weis was born March 16, 1948 in Independence, Missouri. Tracy Hickman was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on November 26th, 1955. This makes them 56, and 49 respectively.

Yes, more are being produced and not just by Weis and Hickman. Here is the most complete list I can provide of the Draonlance books:

Dragonlance doesn't have typical good and wise elves, and i think that makes it quite unique. :)

Unique is the right word for them!! :D I think that these elves have wisdom (that sounds wierd but hold one a sec...), but they just let their pride blind them from doing whats right and/or wise.
^_^ *LESSON ALERT* ^_^

:) lol...

thanks for the list Tier, i don't think i've read the second half of the list.
Your welcome. I'm at school right now but as soon as I get home I'll edit it the second half of the booklist onto this post.

Note: If it says "trilogy" and less then three are listed, the book is either not out yet or I could not find the title. It is exhasting putting a list like this together, if you can fill in my holes, please, by all means do so. :help:

That’s a BIG list. It'll definitely keep my list of books to read full for a while!!!
But what about the CORE series?!? Is there another book that follows the main story line after Dragons of a Vanished Moon? Has the release date been....err..released?(lol)

A bit of nosing around in the dirt of Dragonlance (much like hollywood, it does have a rumor mill) Has let me make a few (tentative) statements and make the first post of:

~TIER'S SHOCKING DRAGONLANCE, ANNNOUNCEMENTS! #1~

-Rumors from GenCon 2002, states that an option has been taken out on a Dragonlance movie. Whether or not it will translate into an actual film is anyone's guess at this point, but it does mean that there is some interest in the project.
*gasp* *choke*

-2004 marks the twentieth anniversary of Dragonlance. HUZZAH!

-A Huma comic is now avaliable to preview. *shrug* Cool if your into comics, but since most of us are reading these paving bricks of novels... The artwork does look cool.

-AND NOW! YES! Direct from Weis' mouth...er...text, the ultimate. :D

Margaret Weis said:
I have now started work on Dark Disciple, the continuing story of Mina. The first book, Ashes and Amber, is scheduled for release next fall, 2004, in conjunction with the Twentieth Anniversary of the release of Dragons of Autumn Twilight. I'm really enjoying working on this book, which is going to be very different from any other Dragonlance book I've written.

People have been asking for teasers. I can't tell you much about it, because I'm only a few chapters into it, but I can tell you that Mina's protagonist will be a monk of Majere, who forsakes his god and pledges his faith to the goddess Zeboim, going over to the dark side in return for . . .

Oops. Got to run!
Well, that's all for the first edition of Tier's Shocking Dragonlance Announcements, hope it was helpful.
