I am amazed that people don't care much about female ass or boobs, but put in some penis and it is a big deal.

I understand sex, but penis? all of us males have one.

JM
Ugh.. I had these laaame people in the theater that were obviously having trouble with it. They just kept giggling like jr high kids whenever that big blue guy was in the shot..

I think its because you see boobs and bums in most movies so people are used to seeing that and are not fussed.

I really enjoyed it. I've never read the comics and thought it would be just another "Superhero beats up bad guys" flick and was pleasantly surprised when it wasn't. I'm going to have to get the comics now. I would recommend this movie to everybody.

I've never read the graphic novel, but I have seen the movie. It's ok, though the sex scene really didn't feel needed. However, I disagree when anyone tells me that this was better than The Dark Knight. Better than the Dark Knight?!!! The Dark Knight is one of the greatest superhero, dramatic, and action movies of all time! The greatest movie ever, period!! And I'm not just saying that as a Batman fan! And at least The Dark Knight kept me on the edge of my seat, especially with Batman "interrogating" the Joker (the music was really getting to me). Watchmen, it did not.

Next up, Wolverine!! I'm really excited about this movie! It's got Wolverine....and Gambit!!

I was not a fan of "The Dark Knight" at all. I thought Heath's performance was absolutely brilliant, but I thought the rest of it was contrived and predictable.

I'm totally revved about "Wolverine" too!!! PLEASE PLEASE Stan Lee...don't mess this one up like the X-Men movies...pleeeeeease...

I read and enjoyed the "graphic novel". It was included in Time's top 100 novels (not comics, or graphic novels, NOVELS) for good reason. It's deep stuff, there's a lot going on. I'm very excited about the movie and it sounds like he's done the impossible and made a vaguely worthy adaptation. Maybe I'll let you know my thoughts when I've seen it.

I know it was included there, and it is the best graphic novel I have ever read, but I probably wouldn't put it there.

I also would like to read Sandman (or whatever) by Gaiman, I think it could possibly be better.

If you were going to say top 100 speculative fiction novels I would agree.

JM
(I also am glad that I bought it.)

Anything by Neil Gaiman rocks. It was his Sandman series that introduced me to graphic novels.

An extremely faithful adaptation. There were some omissions and one change that could be called significant, but both were necessary to keep the film down to a reasonable length.

In the future, will the movie be regarded with the same artistic merit as the graphic novel has been? By no means. While the special effects are impressive, the film doesn't break any new ground. It is, however, thought-provoking entertainment that literary purists will delight in. I found it well worth the price of a ticket.

Considering that the darkness of human nature is a major theme and the sex scenes did not feel gratuitous, which is more than you can say about 90% of action films, I see relatively little to be morally outraged about.

Saw it. Enjoyed it. But, probably wouldn't see it again. Heard about the nudity prior to seeing it, but I believe the human body is natural and I don't get squeamish/offended much over it, especially in art. Movies can be moving art, sometimes. ;)

I didn't even notice the blue appendage (will this, too, be edited out?) until much later in the film, to be quite honest. The one later sex scene was overextended. It was softcore porn and like typical sex scenes was irrelevant to the overall grand scheme of things (the earlier one? not so irrelevant). Nothing wrong with sex and sexuality, but let's get real.

How many children want to watch this film b/c it is based on a graphic novel? (Yes, I'm one of "those" 'Won't someone think of the children!!' people) To me, it was NC-17, which is scarcely-used anymore.

The violence didn't strike me as anything harder-core than, say, the Saw series - though I was warned about this, as well prior to seeing it. It is fictionalized, showy violence with exception to the real-life excerpted stories such as the assasination of JFK. I did notice the reference to the Last Supper earlier on in the film and was not offended - taken aback, yes. If anything, it could be said that the superheros had been prized insomuch as Jesus and His disciples, for "righting" so many wrongs.

Besides directly mocking Christianity in the intro, it is excessively gory, blurs the lines between good and evil, and not even good entertainment. I joked with my friend after seeing it,"Well it was a bad movie, but it was long, so that makes up for it, right?"

was planning on watching it before i read this thread. i don't know if i'll be able to see it before it leaves the theaters tho, maybe this weekend, but if not, then i'll definetely buy the DVD.

now it is a must see!!!

i love somewhat to extreme controversial movies.

oh, yes, listen to this post. make up your mind before actually seeing the film. this is good.

there is not such thing as an irrelevant sex scene...unless it involves isabelle huppert...which is pretty much every film she's been in. i know.

How many children want to watch this film b/c it is based on a graphic novel?
how many children are even aware the graphic novel exists? now, if there's any children reading: GO READ THE GRAPHIC NOVEL.
