Does this represent Christianity?

I don't think we can discuss that, can we? I'd hate to see Introverted's thread be removed because we cross some specific line.

Hopefully my thread doesn't get removed, but I don't mind answering the question.

And I appreciate your thoughtful posts and responses on this, my friend! So, from the brief perusing I've done on the web to get info about Rosaria Butterfield, I can see that what you've shared about her is accurate. I'm just wondering, though, which Christians were critical of her and why? I'm not seeing anything objectionable in what she has said.

That is also a fair question.

I was merely offended by some of the comments that people made in her videos. Here is a link to her video.

Yes, some of those supposedly "Christian" comments under her video are completely unnecessary.

Before you brought her to our attention, I had never heard of her, but I can tell straight off from what she says in the video that I like her general approach and style in handling this issue. It also helps to know that she has come out of the LGBT background herself, so she has first hand experience of all of the issues and emotions that must go with having to contend with those issues.

Thank you for bringing her to our attention, Introvert!

Y'know, I think some of the negative stuff that some fellow Christians have said about her goes back to what I was saying above, and the things you've said above. And I agree with her, deep expression of hospitality should come before much of anything else; the Gospel should be encased in hospitality, even though, as you've pointed out, there may be some aspects of sexual orientation we will definitely have to communicate some evaluation about. Here's her two separate assessments, presented below in tandem:

1) Rosaria Butterfield: Christian Hospitality Isn’t ‘Southern Hospitality’

2) Love Your Neighbor Enough to Speak Truth

Thank you very much for your comments. I haven't seen those link before, but I will definitely look.

And I completely agree with you.

Read the comments below the video.

I could be wrong, but in passing along some of the things she's said, even in that first video you presented in the OP, I think she has an alternative view about 'conversion therapy,' one that doesn't quite jive with many mainstream Evangelical types. I'll have to see if I can find more info on her exact view, but it could be that her view, while one that I think is useful and thoughtful, might not be something Evangelicals want to hear. (But.......I could be wrong. I'll have to do more research.) ;)

But so far, I like what she has to say.

I have never understood conversion therapy. But thank you very much. And thank you for watching her videos and letting me know what you think. It is actually very encouraging to me.

You're welcome. And thank you for teaching me something new about this social issue, brother Jesse!
