Has ever God put you in a ridiculous situation? Did you get the distinct impression that he was laughing at you at the time? What was the situation, and what did it teach you?

I ask because it really feels like he's messing with mine right now. :doh:I'll post it when I've had a little more time to reflect. At least I didn't catch on fire this time. (Yeah, that's happened.)

I'm a non-Christian, but if you want to think God was behind this, I suppose you can.
I had to do an internship in college before I could graduate; I had finished all my classes, and there were some companies coming to campus to do interviews. I thought it would not be a problem to get one, but then I missed some sign-up dates and went through 4 interviews with one company before they rejected me. It was really horrible and I was wondering, "Why must this happen to me???" I really wanted to work in Miami or New York, but I ended up having to work here in Mississippi because I ran out of options. I was really bummed about it. But actually, if I had gone to a bigger city, I would not have been able to save up any money from the internship; it would have been spent on high-cost living expenses. Because I worked here, I ended up with $7000 at my disposal and used it to travel around this summer for a couple of months in Mexico, Vietnam, and Cambodia, which was really awesome. And the people I knew who went to work in New York really hated their jobs and spent much longer working, commuting, and doing assignments than I did.

So, some things that look like misfortunes end up being good for you!

I used to always feel that God was messing with me. It just seemed like one thing after another so I finally gave up on Him for awhile. It left me in a scary place and I was VERY unhappy. Thankfully He brought me out of that and made me realize that He doesn't do it to laugh at us or spite us. I used to wish for a different life or a different set of circumstances, but now I am grateful for EVERYTHING God has given to me, good and bad, because its why I am where I am today. Of course I have my moments, everyone does, but I never feel anymore that God is laughing at my expense, He loves me too much. ;)

I agree with Aloha. God doesn't put us in ridiculous situations - we put ourselves there. When you find yourself feeling that way, you need to pray about what you're doing and why you're doing it. Pray that God will show you the changes you need to make, then make them.

God doesn't laugh at us when we're making mistakes. He might cringe and hope that we will figure out the error of our ways, but I doubt He finds amusement in our struggles.

Yes got messes with our heads and makeup.

He gave me testicles which I can't use for anything and thus am tortured everyday for wanting a relationship and future spouse would of been better if they weren't even there Thanks God

Well, you could always cut them off if you think you don't need them.

Sometimes our heads need to be messed with a little. When we start thinking we're all that, he might mess with us a little to make us realize we're not.

But He's not laughing at us while He does it. It's for our good.

Most of the time though, IMO, it just seems like He's messing with our heads because our heads are already so messed up that we just can't see clearly enough to know that He's cleaning up the mess.

Ever notice how when you set out to clean a really messy room it tends to get messier before order starts appearing?

God may have an ultimate plan to work things out in the end, but we must accept the fact that we presently live in a fallen world. Suffering and confusion are an unfortunate part of the package. That shouldn't necessarily be taken as a sign that God is messing with our heads.

I don't think it's God messing with our heads. I think it has more to do with our decisions and the devil messing with our heads. Yeah, Satan is really happy when we blame everything on God. Now does God allow things to happen to us? Absolutely! There are lessons all of us need to learn, and my personal experience is that if you don't learn the lesson the first time, another lesson will be provided, and another and another if necessary until you learn the lesson. Satan messed with Job with the permission of God, but Job also said about his self, that "what I feared has come upon me" That leads me to the conclusion that he gave Satan a foothold to work with. But he (Job) came out victorious in the end. He also got put in his place by God, when God said to Job
"Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth?" Chapter 38. We only see our tiny little scope of the world, not the whole big picture. God knows what we can handle and we don't. (I always wonder why God thinks I'm so strong, to handle what he gives me, because I don't consider myself as such). When we are put in times of trials it it usually then that we grow in our faith IF we look to God in those times. And likewise, when things are good we don't really feel like we need God as much. I don't believe God laughs at us, or messes with us, but rather his loving eyes are watching, and hoping, saying come on child walk this way.

no. i'm not one that believes that God messes with my head.

i'm the only one to blame for putting myself through ridiculous situations that would make me think that God is messing with my head. confusion leads to confusion beliefs of the reasons why they happen as far as i'm concerned.

Thank you for getting that Matchmaker song stuck in my head for the next day or so. :pink:

o/' Matchmaker, matchmaker, make me a...o/' :|

On second thought, that's what got me into this in the first place.

God doesn't mess with our heads, we mess with our heads.

But I'm sure He gets a giggle at some of our ridiculous choices sometimes. :)

My advice on this as well...NEVER... I repeat never...pray for patience ! Just don't do it ! Lol !

Yeah, as much as I could use a lesson in patience, something tells me it's not very enjoyable. ^_^

I don't consider it God messing with me. I think of it as him giving me material for humor writing. :D

Or maybe he's just showing you how nice and peaceful writing toaster manuals for a living would be...(Props to you if you can manage to write a humorous toaster manual.)
