I believe other, but i could be wrong.
I delieve god gave us a sence of humor as a way to bond, relate to each other, and so on.
Remember He said His ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts higher than our though,
But i could be wrong.

Ok. I get what you're saying. I just don't see how He gave us something that is such a huge part of who we are, if it's not a quality He has Himself... Plus, I've experienced His sense of humour personally - like "FINALLY! She gets it! ;)

Here's a fun quote~

"Sarcasm was an invention of mankind, and God did not choose to partake in its many wonders. It was not as though God didn't understand it, after all, He was pretty much all-knowing, but it currently ranked one step below 'puns' on God's list of humorous conveyances. Ironically, irony was pretty far down the list as well."

LOL!

I don't know about that, God seems awfully sarcastic in the book of Job.

I remember reading "Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy" which made mention of a book called "God's greatest blunders". I really had a good laugh at that, then caught myself...Was I having a laugh at God's expense?

So I asked my priest. He says, "The day I think God has no humor is the day I hang up my vestments."

I asked him if he was prone to just throwing them in heap instead of hanging them up.

It may or not be funny, any of it, but do you think God has a sense of humor?
Of course he does. Where do you think laughter comes from?

sar·casm
  1. A cutting, often ironic remark intended to wound.
  2. A form of wit that is marked by the use of sarcastic language and is intended to make its victim the butt of contempt or ridicule.

Job 38

The LORD Speaks

1 Then the LORD answered Job out of the storm. He said:

2 "Who is this that darkens my counsel
with words without knowledge?
3 Brace yourself like a man;
I will question you,
and you shall answer me.
4 "Where were you when I laid the earth's foundation?
Tell me, if you understand.

5 Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know!
Who stretched a measuring line across it?

6 On what were its footings set,
or who laid its cornerstone-

7 while the morning stars sang together
and all the angels [a] shouted for joy?

8 "Who shut up the sea behind doors
when it burst forth from the womb,

9 when I made the clouds its garment
and wrapped it in thick darkness,

10 when I fixed limits for it
and set its doors and bars in place,

11 when I said, 'This far you may come and no farther;
here is where your proud waves halt'?

12 "Have you ever given orders to the morning,
or shown the dawn its place,

13 that it might take the earth by the edges
and shake the wicked out of it?

14 The earth takes shape like clay under a seal;
its features stand out like those of a garment.

15 The wicked are denied their light,
and their upraised arm is broken.

16 "Have you journeyed to the springs of the sea
or walked in the recesses of the deep?

17 Have the gates of death been shown to you?
Have you seen the gates of the shadow of death [b] ?

18 Have you comprehended the vast expanses of the earth?
Tell me, if you know all this.

19 "What is the way to the abode of light?
And where does darkness reside?
20 Can you take them to their places?
Do you know the paths to their dwellings?

The highlighted verses could be considered sarcasm. Sarcasm itself is not a sinful thing, it's a literary or linguistic device. WE humans make it bad by being sinful in it's use, designating it for the SOLE purpose of hurting, most of the time.

God fully used contempt, and cutting speech to make his point with Job.

Psa 2:1 Why do the nations rage, And the peoples meditate a vain thing?
Psa 2:2 The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against Jehovah, and against his anointed, saying,
Psa 2:3 Let us break their bonds asunder, And cast away their cords from us.
Psa 2:4 He that sitteth in the heavens will laugh: The Lord will have them in derision.
Psa 2:5 Then will he speak unto them in his wrath, And vex them in his sore displeasure:
Psa 2:6 Yet I have set my king Upon my holy hill of Zion.
Psa 2:7 I will tell of the decree: Jehovah said unto me, Thou art my son; This day have I begotten thee.
Psa 2:8 Ask of me, and I will give thee the nations for thine inheritance, And the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
Psa 2:9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; Thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.
Psa 2:10 Now therefore be wise, O ye kings: Be instructed, ye judges of the earth.
Psa 2:11 Serve Jehovah with fear, And rejoice with trembling.
Psa 2:12 Kiss the son, lest he be angry, and ye perish in the way, For his wrath will soon be kindled. Blessed are all they that take refuge in him.

No JESUS and His desiples did not laugh at others for not understanding His parables His desiples did 'nt understand them themselves and His visit to this earth was not a laughing matter.
And the whole bible is a parable and many are not reading it like we should and many are not understanding His word, and He's still not laughing because there's nothing funny about salvation.
I think we in this world to day have gotten to comfortable, we are so use to hearing the Lord will return, He's coming soon, and He has'nt come yet,and every time we hear this we say well He has'nt come yet so why should i worry, God even said we would say this, and we do say it even if we do'nt say it out laud.
But guess what HE IS COMING SOON PEOPLE!!!! VERY SOON!!!!
This is not a joke, He will return just as He promised He would and He will.
Consider it done, because what He saids He will do will without a doubt come to pass.
JUDGEMENT DAY IS HE!!!!HIS RETURN IS SOON!!! so cry out for mercy today.

God is showing job His MIGHT His strength His MAJESTY His GLORY His WONDERFUL and MIGHTY WORKS.
He knows job can't aswer these questions but He asking job these questions to show him, He is the 1 and only GOD, He's telling job his mind is to small to finite to comprehend Him His power, He's telling job he can't begin to comprehend these things.
But it's not sarcasm, it's a flatout desplay of power/wisdom beyond comprehention.
Well atleast i do'nt think it is, none of us here will ever comprehend these things because our mind are so finite compared to the infinite mind of GOD.

Yes, I do think He has a sense of humor.

If look at a baby when it's born - pretty funny... Sweet, but funny looking. Then just look at what happens to us as we age... God must have a sense of humor.

Edited to add:

Joking asided...

Matthew 19:13-15 13 Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them. 14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.15 And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence.
The character of a child is precious and filled with laughter, amazement and amusement at the world. I think God has a sense of humor in a wholesome way.

Amen Sister! Laughter is a worldwide language, we all do it naturally in the same way... everyone understands it. It goes hand in hand with a smile. In my eyes these are good things and good things come from God.

I think this has been a fun discussion and it got me doing a little study. The good things or characteristics man possesses he gets from God. We were created in His image. The bad characteristics are a reflection of our sin nature willed to us from the fall. The Bible in many places mentions being "merry"... "laughter" ... "Cheer" in a way that illustrates that those emotions are "good" ones. To me that means we were given them by God, their a reflection of Him. The Bible also mentions a type of laughter that is mocking or derisive. I don't think we need to be geniuses to recognize the difference. The Bible also says God laughs... in the verses I found it was a laugh that made me think of someone shaking their head... laughing at someones intentionaly rediculous actions. Maybe even a "boy are you gonna get it" laugh. Merry or happy laughter requires the ability to see or feel happiness - joy or comedy - something innnocently humorous or the mocking, scornful or derision type of laughter. Being merry would include laughter, deriding laughter the Bible, comical illustration I see all these in scripture.

Life suggests to me that God has a sense of humor.
His scriptures confirm that, in my mind anyway.

Consider Matthew 7:3-5 below. That's an exagerated, comical illustration that makes a visual point.

Matthew 7:3-5
3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? 5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

Nobody ever really has a "beam" KJV or a "plank" NIV in their eye. It's an exageration, it's commical, it makes a point visually ie... you can imagine it, and Jesus said it. When I think of Jesus making this vivid point I imagine Him doing so with an understanding smile on his face. Yes, I think He had a sense of humor. He was fully man and faced all the same emotions, feelings, and temptations that we do. That means he had a sense of humor and being sinless His sense of humor would have been an appropriate one. No doubt one that appreciated the lighter and more wholesome side of what is funny, not a cruel or inappropriate type of humor.

Proverbs 17:22
A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones. KJV
A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. NIV
