  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Then Yes Absolutely He does:

The volcano eruption at the Roman city Pompeii.

Sodom and Gomorrah

Earthquakes in San Francisco and giant waves in Thailand etc.

.
Annual flooding in Bangladesh, or even the Fukashema Tsunami, why there, why not Tokyo?

Your reasoning is flawed.

I asked you,

Don't you honestly believe Tokyo is more sinful that Fukashema?

Remember God is doing this as Retribution?

Read about the atrocities The Japanese military committed against Chinese and other civilian women around the World Wars. It’s horrible.

Yeah, so 70 years later God destroyed Fukashema, He's a little behind schedule isn't he.

That's my point, God does not micromanage.
I do not like to apply the word micromange to God it is disrespectful. So I will reply that I believe that God is involved in the little things as well as the big things in my life. I am grateful to him for it.

I did this somewhere else many years ago and was shocked that most said no. Please comment if you will.

With Hawaii , Guatemala, last years three major US Hurricanes please vote if you believe either God controls these things or it is just some random natural events...Thanks

If God did not control nature, then He is not God. However, God is sovereign over all things and He puts all things in motion.

I don't believe that God controls everything in nature though I believe he can.

"God saw all that he had made, and it was very good."

God made Nature, so Nature works.

Instead of an unworkable machine poorly designed...

His creation is truly amazing and wonderful.

Nature works, it functions, beautifully.

So, He does not have to constantly make it work it seems.

But...at the same time, He is behind all of creation, the very laws of physics, and can sweep the old away and replace it whenever He wants.

So, He doesn't need to make a butterfly's wings function. No need to control such things.

So, asked so broadly: Does God have to make everything work all the time? That answer is very likely: No.

Because He already has made it work.

He is in ultimate control though. He is in ultimate control of the ultimate outcomes that matter. He can intervene in nature at any moment.

So that answer is "Yes and No", depending on what you are asking. He can intervene and is in control of the ultimate outcomes in the end.

There are plenty of verses that mention the " bringing of rains / storms " in the Bible

Students of pre-biblical literature would probably be familiar with the fact that certain godly kings ( deified ) were said to have had the power to call forth storms

In fact, literature says things like " don't make the king angry, his breath sends storms " ( paraphrased )

Then there's the fact that priest-king rulers were referred to as " the deluge / the flood "

Intervening in an ongoing nature, saving or destroying, at times. But nature itself He already created, and it already is ongoing by His natural laws (which as Creator He created). Put another way, God doesn't have to make a butterfly's wings flap, because He already created perfect natural function. "...and it was very good."

"All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made" (John 1:3)

How many is "All"?

Including the very laws of nature -- all that is. All the universe and all in it.

Sometimes people imagine the sciences aren't His. They are His. The implication though is valuable -- to realize when physics discovers a new aspect of nature, it's learning about another part of what He made.

Exactly.

It's the creation that lead me to the creator. When you realise just how intricate its order is, you cannot fail to recognise intelligence at work behind all that we see. To not recognise that is wilful blindness.
