  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I feel Chris stepped over the line in treating one of our finest members of the House of Representatives with his over the top distain.

He went on to act as though he never said what he said about Obama.
He doesn't address his own statements of how he needs to protect Obama because it is part of his job. He doesn't even address the "tickle" comment with a direct reference.

However, Chris does make sure to dismiss the nights comments from Michele, (which I agree with), and focus on his "gotcha" momont from the past. It is as if he enjoys disrespecting Bachmann and really overspepped himself. IMO. :)

Like many other politicians, instead for answering his question she proceeded to speak about her own talking points.

Was he inappropriate? I guess so. A bit. It was a typical Chris Matthews jab, at which she jabbed back.

Is am apology in order? Not really. It didn't seem like a major issue or insult.

Why did she not answer his question?

one of our finest members
Michele, (which I agree with)
And this is the only reason you're pretending to care. Civil discourse has never been a high priority of your's before.

I haven't seen a board where you call Barry O an usurper for a while Herb, you losing your touch?

Michele Bachman finest members of the House? She's nuttier than a fruitcake!
We all have our standards. Some people judge on compassion, some on knowledge of the issues, some on effectiveness of agenda passing. If someone judges that nutty = fine, who are we to gainsay them?

She outsmarted him. Matthews was looking for a sound bite he, and his panel of psychic vampires, could use as an immediate means to tarnish the Republican win by claiming they were hate-mongers filled with vindictive rage whose only intent was to destroy the current administration. She wouldn’t give it to him.

Please. Matthews asked her if she was going to overuse subpoena power, and she didn't directly answer the question.

I'm not necessarily a fan of Matthews. As I've said before, I don't disagree with many of Matthew's views, but I don't like how he interrupts people, midsentence, to interject commentary or ask another question. At the same time, I'm far from a fan of Michele Bachmann, who is fairly high up on my personal 'moonbat' list.

She is a conservative woman, which is the only qualification most liberals need to place someone on their "moonbat" list.

As for the exchange, I stand by my comment. Matthews goes for "gotcha" moments, and hounds his guest conservative guest with questions which usually amount to no more substance than "do you still beat your wife?"

That is neither my qualification nor the qualification of "most liberals".

To be honest, I was watching the MSNBC coverage during that exchange, and I came away not knowing exactly what point Matthews was trying to make about Bachmann being "hypnotized". It came out of left field.

If Matthews owes anyone anything, it is to the viewers of the MSNBC coverage. Asking that question of a candidate in a noisy auditorium through an earpiece with all the hoopla going on at that particular time, was nothing short of nonsensical. What an idiot. Totally unprofessional.

Matthews needed to save a question like that for a one-on-one interview where the question would be understood and then answered without background interference. He also chose his words in a way to where she would look like some kind of Leo McCarthy clone before she even began to answer the question. It was leading and a cheap shot.

He doesn't need to apologize to her for it because she smartly side-stepped it. It didn't deserve a response so she didn't give one. I'm sure she has seen how those at MSNBC conduct themselves before, so it certainly didn't hit her by surprise. She just properly ignored the bone-head.

What in the world is a "physic vampire"?

Kinda sums up his career.

He's no better with liberals that he is with conservatives.
