I would definitely like the solitude of a rural life. I'm more of a country boy anyway, cities gimme too much anxiety. My "city" (100K people) is about as big as I can tolerate. If we decide almonds aren't viable longterm I still have a vineyard/winery in my back pocket. I might pull out the orchard and plant 20 acres of vines then either make my own wine or sell the crop to New Clairvaux for their wines.It’s very hard work but if you feel called to it, it can be a wonderful life and a great way to raise your little one.
I agree though, that's probably his best chance of growing up well adjusted. Especially if I got him involved in things like 4H.
