I have been considering your point. I`m not seeing it rule out a two event scenario. In the Luke account the apostles didn`t know where the taken were going. When they asked Jesus his answer seems to be that they are taken away as bird food. Luke 17:37
Correct.
Luk 17:35 Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Luk 17:36 Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Luk 17:37 And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together.
They know where the one left behind is, right where they were standing---but where is the one taken going---"withersoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together." The one taken is bird food.
Mat 24:38 For as in the days that were
before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
Mat 24:39 And knew not until the flood came,
and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Again, the flood came and took them all away. The taken are those that are lost. Those that stayed in the ark, we safe.
