  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Do you vaccinate?

Do you vaccinate your children?

  • Yes, anything the CDC recommends.

  • No, none of them.

  • I delay or selectively vaccinate

  • Other (explain please!)

Please read the entire article cited below. The virus used to make the rubella vaccine in the 1960s was obtained from dead fetuses that died (and then had to be aborted) because they were exposed to Rubella. (A Rubella infection in a pregnant woman can kill her baby or cause it to have severe birth defects.)

"Since the tissue was removed after the aborted fetus was clinically dead, individuals involved in the vaccine production were not involved in the abortion."

ABORTED FETAL CELL USE IN RUBELLA VACCINES: A MEDICAL AND ETHICAL CONFLICT by Laurence F. Roberge, M.S.

Taking the tissue after the aborted baby was clinically dead doesn't change the fact that the baby was aborted, though. The women were advised to abort their babies, which is not the same as a Dilation and curettage (D&C) procedure for those who have suffered a miscarriage. The article backs up what the CDC site reports as well:

During the 1964 Rubella epidemic, many women were advised to abort babies if the mothers contracted Rubella during pregnancy. The
Rubella virus strain, RA 27/3, was obtained from an infected aborted fetus.

These are not a trick questions:

Are the Amish exposed to Lyme's disease?

Is Lyme's disease present in all of the places we are seeing a rise in Kannerian autism?

Lyme disease is a tick-born disease, so yes, the Amish are certainly exposed to it. As for your second question, I honestly don't know.

The majority of "vaccine preventable diseases" are very mild in children. It is better for them to get it young, then when they are older. Vaccines do not provide life long immunity, getting the disease does. So, even if you are vaccinated as a child, you can get a very serious case of the disease as an adult, where as if you had a mild case of it as a child, you'd never have to worry about it again.

The children that have serious cases are generally unhealthy or sickly to begin with - or already have breathing problem such as asthma. And even such, deaths actually are not that common at all.

Polio, of course, is scary. It can have devastating results. However, in something like 90% of people that have it or are exposed to it, they only have flu/cold like symptoms and never develop any neurological symptoms.
Also, you must consider that polio is not endemic in the states - your child will not likely ever contract it, but it could be damaged by the vaccine. From either vaccine reaction, or even tumor/cancers due to SV40 that was in the polio vaccine (proven to cause tumors in rats).

Here are some questions to answer for yourself in deciding about vax.

1. Name of the disease
2. Description of the disease
3. Length of time from initial infection to end of all symptoms
4. Infectious period
5. Normal symptoms of the disease
6. Known serious consequences of the disease
7. Proportion of persons infected developing serious consequences
8. Transmission route of the disease
9. Prevalence of the disease
10. Treatments of the disease and efficacy of those treatments
11. Relevant research about the disease
12. Name of the vaccine
13. Company that makes the vaccine
14. Contents of the vaccine
14A. The significance of whether or not the vaccine is live
15. History of development of the vaccine
16. Known side-effects of the vaccine and rate of incidence of those side-effects
17. Possible side-effects not yet acknowledged by the vaccine maker
18. Relevant research into the vaccine
19. How effective is the vaccine at preventing the disease?
20.What is the vaccine meant to do? (Many vaccines are not meant to prevent infection or transmission).
21.Number of cases reported each year.
22.Number of deaths reported each year from the vaccine and natural disease.

Here are some sources to help you out:

Oh and one more thing - if there's an incidence of intestinal disorders in your family... that's something you have to ask yourself. If so, vaccines don't do you much of any good, because that's where a good bit of your immunity will be manufactured. If you have issues like Celiac, Addison's, Chron's, or other auto-immune disorders tied to the gut - you won't be having the same kind of vaccination response that is seen in most studies. You'll either not respond, barely respond - or have an adverse reaction; or so findings are showing very recently....which is also very controversial.

And here's one more link I forgot in the above post:

my kids get all theres and all there future ones. the way most vax work is they give u a small part of the virus to fight it off so u can do it yourself if u come in to contact with it.
id rather my kids got the vax and were ill for a few days with temperatures (long term damage to a vaccine shot i dont think theres enough evidence to say it wouldnt have happened on its own accord.) than get a virus that could make them seriously ill or worse.

That's not the way vaccinations work, but it would be nice if they did.

Here are few websites:
National Vaccine Information Center – Vaccine Watch Dog
ThinkTwice Global Vaccine Institute: Avoid Vaccine Reactions
Vaccination Information & Choice Network - Vaccine/Vaccination/Immunization Dangers
Vaccine website
Parents Requesting Open Vaccine Education (PROVE)
Children of God for Life

Also, you can't tell one parent of a vaccine damaged child that "it might have happened on it's own". There are a Lot of different types of vaccine damage and most would never have just happened on it's own. I would rather my kids get a recognizable disease that is treatable in this day & age, than go through the mystery of 'what happened?' after getting 5 shots at one time and trying to figure out how to live with the consequences.

Delay vax here, my son is nearly 5 and is up to date but he was waaaay behind the CDC schedule at 1 yr. He was home with me, breastfed until 4 yrs of age and we continue to do well baby/child visits so I didn't feel a pressing need to get all those shots in within the timeframe the CDC provides.

Same here! My son is only 2 though and he's also severely behind the CDC schedule and, to be honest, I'm not sure I much care. I'm looking out for the health of my son, no matter what the pediatrician says. People in the United States are the MOST vaccinated in the world. We get the most vaccinations when comparing us to other people in other countries.

I am so unbelieveably passionate about this subject, it's unreal :o... I find it rediculous that I can't trust my son's pediatrician and have to do research online and ask other resources before I will do what he suggests. I don't understand why it's necessary for him to have FOUR different vaccinations in one sitting (two in each leg) and why they can't be spread out over a 4-6 month period. Pediatricians are so NOT understanding and so UNcaring of what the parent is feeling. Although the pediatrician may have children of his or her own, every single one of their children is vaccinated because of what the CDC has forced them to believe. I will say some pediatricians are understanding, but I have not yet found one that I can take my son to...

Fyi to everyone else...
As far as I know, if you want to take your child to pre-school and the school requires you to have your child completely up to date on his/her vaccinations, you tell them that the child is not vaccinated due to personal/religious beliefs. They CANNOT discrimate. I'm not entirely sure what the rules are in different states...

I have not yet put my son in pre-school but I am concerned about what's going to happen when I attempted to enroll him. I wonder if they will give me a hard time about him not being full vaccinated? :sorry: It's what I believe is right for my son, I'm sorry if the pediatrician is against me or anyone else who is, but he's my son, nobody elses. It's my job to protect him for this world.

But it's also the daycares job to protect the other children from illnesses that your child may bring into the area. Since most daycares are private they can discriminate all that they want to on who to enroll or not enroll.

As for schools - they cannot, but I really wish they would.

I also don't agree with people who claim they don't vaccinate for religious purposes, when it is very clear that their particular religion doesn't make a stand one way or another on the issue. There are some that for whatever reason allow for this - but most do not.

I will vaccinate my child(ren).

Religious reasons are very personal~ it doesn't mean a "religion" makes a particular stand (although the Catholic organization Children of God for Life takes a very strong stand against fetal cell line vaccinations).

My own religious reasons are that we keep as Kosher as possible~ and that includes refusing any vaccination that is cultured in aborted fetal cell tissue, monkey tissue, or any other non-Biblically-kosher source. My other religious reasons are that God has entrusted me with my children, to keep them safe, to take care of them, to watch over their health... and for us, that includes being selective about what goes into their bodies~ be it food, drink, or shots.

Even private pre-schools HAVE to accept a state's waiver, just like private schools and public schools.

As a parent and as one who works in the health care field I am for vaccinations. If we had a girl I would definetly get her the Gardisol (gr 5 here) as I know with myself during one pap test they found abnormal cells, following pap I was okay, however we need 3 okays before one is in the clearing...
I, my husband and children have had all the required vaccinations, the kids and I have had the flu shot along with the H1N1, where as dh missed out on that one, due to his reaction over a flu shot a few years back, as well as that he is not around many people in his line of work. He definetly agreed that the kids and I should be done as they are in school all day and around others and I am around many elderly (the seasonal flu can be detrimental for them, though not the H1N1 as they seem to have natural immunity which is because of a similiar flu that was going around in the 1960's I believe).
I also believe each to their own, however if one has not had the chickenpox virus and is working near someone like me who has had chickenpox as a child and ends up with shingles (as the virus stays with one forever) that person can then end up getting the chickenpox from me (if its a pregnant mom then that is even worse...chickenpox does effect unborn babies and the damage can be much worse than a 5 year old or young adult catching the chickenpox). I would feel horrible if someone ended up sick due to me...(Chickenpox has also been known to be a factor in the male population becomming sterile).

Some religious reasons agaisnt vaccination? Bible tells us not to mix human blood with animal. Bible tells us not to defile our body. And Bible tells us to be weary of false teachers (in this case, the huuuge lie and corruption in teh vaccination program).

Since I last replied on this, we got our referral - a 5 year old boy and 4 year old girl! As part of our trip to get them, we are going to be spending time in Awassa, which is about 5-6 hours away from Addis Ababa (in Ethiopia). While Awassa itself is a resort town, in order to get there, we will be going through remote areas. I'd rather take the tiny risk of a problem with the vaccines than come home with our kids, and either DH or I be sick with something. So we got every vaccination the CDC recommended, along with some that the travel nurse at the health department recommended. The only thing I have left to do is another twinrx (Hepatitis A & B) in 6 months.

The long-term risks seem to be greater for newborns (than adults with hardier immune systems) in otherwise ethical vaccines.
